Currently I have a bankroll of $35, and I am playing single table SNG's worth $1 + 20c.

With 9 players on the table, first taking $4.50, second $2.70 and 3rd $1.80, what sort of profit should I be looking to make long term?

If I won every game, the maximum profit would be $3.3 per game, however this is totally unrealistic.

What would be a realistic target for me to set?

So your realistic goal is to finish in the money every time you play? :)

Awesome.

I find your nick name offensive and your question too vague. Maybe you nick isn't meant to be offensive, but your question is definately too vague.

what is wrong with his nickname?

as for the OP question: You shouldn't be setting monetary goals as making a profit over the short term doesn't necessarily mean you are playing well and losing in the short term doesn't necessarily mean you are playing bad, all you can do is try to get your money in good and make good decisions.

If you crush the game, i guesstimate that you can probably hope for 20% ROI, so that means about winning $0.25 per SNG you play. And beware that it's not that easy a game to crush. Most likely you'll start by being a losing player.

But if you do crush the game, the first heater you run into will boost your bankroll enough so that you move to a higher limit, which wouldn't be bad once you BR allows as 20% rake is bank robbery.

The higher stakes you play, the lower your expected ROI will be. If you look at the cream of the cream on sharkscope's leaderboard, they have like 3 or 4% ROI, but of course they play $1000 games, so it's still decent money if you multitable (but nowhere near what the best cash players are winning).

Yeah what Belgio said sounds about right but i whould listen to bw.
Seting monetary goals will only fk with your head.
You will start chasing loses and playing more scared money,no good will come of it imo.

Yeah 100% agreed and I have tried to NEVER have a monetary goal attached to my goal list. # of hands, etc, yes.

the numbers i gave are there to give you a board idea. So if you experience 100% ROI, don't start thinking you're the new poker god and order a new ferrari, you're just on a short term heater. And if you experience a 0% ROI or lower over a long time, it probably means you need to perfect your game.

Good goals should not be end results in $$. It should be
- number of games you play
- books to read and hands to post for analysis here
- theoretical concepts to master, like ICM theory and push/fold strategy if you're into SNGs

and the ROI you experience over a large sample of games (hundreds will be needed) will essentially be a way to assess how good you are at the game.
