I was playing live tournament last night and got dealt pocket K's utg my chip stack was average at around 7-8000 second to last table blinds 150-300. I decided to limp in hoping to reraise if it came round, I had, had K's about 6 hands previous so I wanted to mix it up. Anyway no one raised...flop came JcJs and an undercard being another club, everything scared me! Trip jacks, flush draw anyway I raised 800 to see where I was and got one caller, next card was an undercard so I bet 1000 but did not push caller off, river came Ac, I checked he pushed all in I had to fold, I did go onto make the money in the tournament though but I wonder if I had off bet more on the flop if that would have been the correct play it was just the pJ's put me off, the other option was to bet 3-4xBB and push them off initially but I don't like to be predictable.... Thank you for all your help it's great, the sniper

preflop raise>shove>limp so even open-shove is better than limping

thanks cilderr, the reason i slow played is that sometimes if you raise everybody folds and that's the hand wasted I don't slow play aces or kings regularly its just that i have taken down some big pots like that but last night wasn't one of them!

Taking the blinds is never a hand wasted.

trust me it's better to take the blinds and "waste" the hand.... then just limping so u can give people a chance and the right odds to limp with barely any hand...and even an innocent flop like 7s 10c 2h might be scary 4 your kings or even aces because people could have any 2 cards

Very true. Even though you didn't want to look "predictable", you should have still raised preflop with the KK. Good luck next time!
