Hey everyone, so I saw a lot of people put up a memorial post when they hit a milestone, and I figured I'd do the same at my 500th...

I'm gonna gear this more towards the newbie/amateur, as I feel like more of the newbie myself.

The first thing I want to touch on is the classic question...is online poker rigged? I know cardschat has compiled a great cumulative thread about it...but somehow theres still doubt. People have claimed that Carbon is rigged, that Bovada is rigged, that pokerstars (or "Jokerstars") is rigged...so are they all rigged? Highly unlikely. Is even one of them rigged? Again, highly unlikely. People argue that they deal "coolers" to instigate rake, but breaking the integrity of their company isn't worth an extra $1 an hour, and anybody with a common-sense business mind can figure that out.

The second thing I want to address is the topic that a lot of new-comers had (or at least one that I know that I had when i was introduced to the game...) Is poker a skill game? Many people will tell you that this is pure gambling, like roulette or horse betting. At the end of the day, this is a skill game. 100%. And the main reason is...YOU control when you decide to bet all of your money. If you don't think it's a good spot to bet your money, then fold. But if you think it's a good spot to risk your money to win more money, then put it in. And it is the thinking part that makes it the skill game. At the end of the day, are there professional roulette players? Are there professional horse-bettors? No, because in the long term, they are playing a -EV game and they will lose money. In poker, you can put yourself in +EV spots and make money in the long run (even if your KK loses to A6 every once in a while).

I feel bad not having said anything about cardschat in this post yet. CC is great, the best poker forum on the internet by far. Stop complaining about the requirements to get into the freeroll club! Once you get in, you will be happy, because their exclusive freerolls are the best ones that Americans can play in. And hey, you might even learn a thing or two, and become a better player.

That's about all I have. Since I joined this forum, I started as a freeroll grinder (hoping to get any sort of bankroll), to grinding 10NL and withdrawing pretty regularly. I'm telling you guys, try to learn the game, be patient, and the results will come.

For the record, I am by far not the best player in this forum, so there are many other people here to follow to improve, but this is a good forum to do it, because there are a lot of good players here.

Big thanks to CC for all they've done for me. Here's to hoping by my 1000th post I'm in a better spot:)
