EVERY $1 MTT I have EVER played at Poker Stars. (All in the last 2 months)
My statistics, playing at $1.
Played - 31
Cashed – 3
Entry fees & rake - $34.10
Winnings - $6.31
Loss - $27.79

I play as Jacksprat44.

I think these statistics are telling me something!

Oh well, at least I don’t use the cards chat avatar!!

The strange thing is; it doesn’t matter where I have played over the years, I always have a shocking ROI when it comes to $1 MTTs. My commitment when playing is always the same no matter how much the entry fee costs.

Over the years I must have played 1,000 $1 MTTs, and never reached a final table. The trouble is, I am so stubborn by nature, that I won’t give up!

How many players are in these $1 tournaments?
Are these the ones with thousands of people in?
Maybe you sould try single table sit n gos and see if they are profitable for you?

Yep this is good advice, less players, easier to cash and you get a feel for short handed play and bubble play too which is good. The problem with 1$ tourneys at stars is there are too many people in them, but now they have games capped at 1000 players so maybe try some of those.

31 tournaments is a very small sample size, especially if the fields are large. For the purpose of illustration, let's assume the field size is 1000 every time. Mathematically, a given player's expectation would be to make the final 10 once in every 100 tournaments.

As for bad ROIs, check out Negreanu's recent blog where he presented some data for people who had played a bunch of $10K WPTs and lost bundles.
