Hey you Poker Degenerates,
I gotta make a public apology im not gonna say who it's to when they read this they will know it's for them. For quite a while now i was an avid NL ringame player and built my bankroll up slowly but surely on FT and Pstars i had a cycle win on ringames then blow it on stngos any one ever get stuck in that Catch22? please tell me im not the only 1 pleeease lol. Anyway apology i had this mate and he did quite well in STgos and i was forever talking ill of them. I would say those f..king luckfests blah blah blah well i have actually studied a lil stngos strategy and to my surprise drum rollpls
brbrbrbrbrbrb they aint actualy luckfests(anyone got apiece of humble pie) a good strategy does show EV so much so that i am now mostly playing stngos and my profits are soaring am i just getting lucky? probably but hey i feel better now knowing why i am doing things at inflection points now rarther than thinking "shit i hope im good here" then getting stacked he he. Id love to here any comments about people swinging between ringames and stngos is anyone Flying in both or are we all just gonna be good at 1 and mediocre at the other? tx for taking the time to read my post look forward to any feedback cheers Damon789 a.k.a Steamer107

SNGs are a pretty good bankroll builder. There is a lot of variance due to the fact that they're a showdown-centric game, but some people play the early stages and the bubble so badly they're still very profitable. Once you have a decent BR built up though, if you can learn ring games (6-max or FR) they will always be more profitable.

SNGs require less thought than ring games too, which I like because I hate thinking.

Congratulations, it takes a man to admit when he is wrong. You've learned that regardless of the fact that they both have the same cards, different games require different strategies. There will always be a little bit of luck involved with cards, but your play can greatly reduce that percentage. When you play both, it's truly amazing to learn just how different the same game can be. I'm actually swinging the other direction currently from sng to ring. Good luck and it sounds like you'll do just fine.

In my experience, the sng requires a lot more patience and focus because every hand matters, even the ones you are not in. Eventually, it becomes a matter of when not if you will be faced with an all-in situation, the pressure of the blinds taking you over and drowning you. The ring game is a little more relaxed and actually allows for an escape at any time, which is handy if you ever find yourself starting to tilt.

Hey Bob,swinging the other way oh no does ur family know? hehe ok you are going the reverse huh? Did u do well in stn gos? is that why u are shifting to ring? to increase your profits even more? interested to know what buyins you played and how quickly u moved up? if u did moveup in limits? did u multitable if so how many? Def agree with comment on patience on focus tho i feel ring is def harder to play consistently well tho but def more profit for ring than stngos for the skilled player Gl in ur switch to ring Bob peace out

hey Dorkus cheers for the reply man yes i agree Def more profit in ring i guess im just challenging myself to do well in stngos at the mom as i do enjoy them and because at the low buyins there are so many recreational players as u said profits are easily attainable.
Def at the late stages decisions become very simple agreed and im the same thinking peh! who needs it lol another reason for my switch is just to stay fresh i love ring and def will be back there but i find chopping and changing is never a good move so i concerntrate on one format at a time 9000 plus posts man hell u are an animal gl at the tables man cheers for the feedback again cya buddy

Been running so well in Stngos. and back to ring and dropped nearly $100 in 1 session had some big hands cracked and started to steam prob played 2 bad hands in retrospect rest sucked out on a 2 and 3 outed horrible session wanna bury it in the ground and forget it oh well tomorrow is another day.

sngs vs Ring

Can you elaborate?

I think what Chris was referring to, and Chris please correct me if im wrong. Is, That because the blinds go up so quick in stngos.

The higher they are the simpler your decisions ,because you have to revert to an allin or fold strategy. Unlike in ring ,when you are generally deepstacked with small blinds, you have tough decisions on every street not just Preflop.
