Love this..Brunson and others made it workLuck is a BIG part of poker.
Skill is all about managing luck.
In the short term luck triumphs.
In the long term, and with a large bankroll and strong bankroll management, skill MAY triumph over luck.
I agree with you only partially; i say partially because I'm not too convince about the luck part; seems to me more and more lately that the online poker is rigged so i doubt that we can speak about luck because luck exist only if cards comes 100% random so.....Luck is a BIG part of poker.

So true, but when you have equally skilled players at the same table the lucky one will always come out the winner. I finished HU in a tourney yesterday. We went back and forth for a long time, but in the end he was hitting some flops and I wasn't hitting any. He won. While we may have both had a skill edge on some of the other players at the table, the one winner was the lucky one.I can see how it would be easy to beleive that when it comes to low buy-in tourneys where everyone is shoving left and right and you need to make a thin call or risk your stack in a tough spot.
But when we look at what all the best players say about luck in poker...they all agree there's an element of luck involved in poker but it remains that the skilled players are the ones who win.
When i play live and i hear people talk about how poker is just a game of luck...those players are the ones who give their money away. Poker is certainly a game that involves luck but its a game where skill pays better than luck does over the long haul. Luck leaves you. Skill, you take with you.

I can definitely say that believe in poker math, its dispersion, expectancy etc. And it seems to me that the luck is reflection of your level of poker math knowledge. Wouldn't you think?Luck is a BIG part of poker.

Smartly said! You provided a perfect example of the role luck plays in poker. If a poker simulator were to run out a full table simulating identically talented "players", there would ALWAYS be a winner, because there MUST be ONE. Except for minor variations in the simulation, luck and timing will always determine the winner, because no player has any technical advantage.
Our goal is to find the edge needed to minimize our bad luck and maximize our good luck, but we are really only trying to manipulate the affects of luck, not manipulating luck itself.
