Revealing a card during a hand smart or foolish?

My local casino card room allows a player to reveal one or both of their hole cards without penalty once only two players remain in the hand. I occasionally exercise this right in limit Holdem' by flipping over one of my two hole cards. I do this:

To elicit a call
I usually do so when I make a value bet. My logic is that I feel that showing one of my cards peaks my opponents' curiosity, which could prompt a losing call.

When out of position
I will also occasionally reveal a card when I am out of position in a heads-up pot if I feel that my in-position opponent will reveal one himself, which takes away some of the mystery of being the one out of position. After all, i'm supposed to lose the most as the one that is out of position, so for us both to reveal information, should only make my decisions easier, thus reducing his positional advantage.

To break the ice
In a game where weak players are trying hard or playing relatively decent, showing a card, particularly in a spot that is pretty safe, like ones that you know you can't win anyway and don't plan continue in, could lighten the mood at the table and advise your opponents that "It's ok to have some fun", while not costing you anything.

So what do you think? Is my logic correct? Am I simply just giving my hand away and costing myself bets because of it?

I think this is great. Bringing the fun aspect back to the felt.

Showing a card can good response but I really prefer that no one show any cards. I have a local poker room here in Pensacola but really not sure if that rule goes at that poker room.

What kind of a hand was it? Why would you be ashamed of succesful bluff? I mean it's sometimes cool to show a bluff :D

I believe that sometimes it helps. For example, if you make a really hard beat on the flop and the other payers fold but with the thought you may be bluffing, you can show your cards, only if you think it's neccesary, to prove that you weren't bluffing and they can be aware every time you raise, you can use it to bluff often, showing hands that can give you power as a player on that table.
