I will be more excited when I know that they are not going to just make us play just amongst ourselves, or worse yet, with just those in our own state.

Hope something actually comes of this. I don't expect action anytime soon though, based on the past. Our government rarely gets anything done in an effecient manner. Maybe if we could tie the bill to government payroll!

I'm just so worried that whatever the way they make it its gonna be too different. Whats all this about foreigners playing on US sites? I don't get where these US sites are just gonna pop up from. If they make online poker totally legal again I'm going back to full tilt. Unless they mean those poker sites that started in the US would be coming back here?

I heard Flordia is trying to pass a law that will allow 2 sites to be part of the legal part of playing online poker and pokerstars is not one of them. PS can't be to happy about this and is probably lobbying hard to take part of it.

It will be a miracle if we ever see Stars again. The tone of that article suggests the bill will favor US sites, (think the existing big casinos). The most we can hope for is that those Casino's license the great software from Stars, or Tilt, or Cereus or now Yatahay. We have to insist on a non subscription game. Else we get stuck with Zen Entertainment.......

But any news is better than no news at all.

"Gaming companies and poker players have lobbied for the bill’s passage but have met resistance from lobbyists for conservative Christian groups and professional sports leagues. "

Since it CAN be proved that religions kill people, and cause serious global distress. I move we ban all religions. Not a ban on faith, but a ban on all religions. Religions are to faith, like Casinos are to home poker games.

Really, don't get me started.....really.........

Like for instance, since there is a provision for the separation between Church and State buried deep in our National soul, it should be policy that any subject any religion brings up should be taboo from any State involvement. So the politico's can't do a thing because religions have taken it on themselves to become like the Mormons going door to door trying to convince you the end is near.......

I couldn't agree more.

I can't see regulated poker being as good as it was before the US made it illegal but anything will be better than it is currently. Also, there may be some good perks when it becomes legal as different sites will be trying to lure back US players. Big big freerolls I hope,,,,:)

It is going to look good no matter what happens. Zynga and casinos will have a heyday getting you americans on to thier sites. After such a dry spell anything will look like an oasis. All I can say is all this has gotten me more active on the political aspects of online poker up here. I want the right to play other nations not just canadians (for one we limp too much). Hope this all works out soon for you guys.

What do the sports leagues care?

Because they are concerned that any expansion of online gaming (of any type) may ultimately lead the expansion of sports gambling online and the sports leagues spend alot of money to lobby to keep Nevada as the only place with legal sportsbooks.

Delaware who was one of only 4 states exempt from the federal ban on sports gambling, tried to get a sportsbook together 2 years ago and the NFL took them to federal court and won, restricting them to doing NFL only parlays.

Thanks, they could solve that problem by just exempting poker as a game of skill from the UIGEA.

I'm 65 years old, I don't think I'll live long enough to see it being legal in USA for us to play on approved sites,,,that the good ole boys on the hill say is OK.

There must be a catch to this one somewhere.

There are a lot of subliminal messages there. The picture for one. Showing kids with cards and chips just feeds the "protect the children" crowd.

Also picking someone who was on track to make 80-90K may not have been the best choice since the average US salary is much below that. Jealousy from workers who may view making money from poker as not a real job.

For some reason I can't see the comments now, but there were a lot of them that said "get a real job".
