MTT win?

I haven't been playing cards for quite a while now, and started realizing I was missing it...so I'm back!

Just thinking about my first MTT win, which was actually a freeroll with 900 entrants. I won $45. While not much, it is just a great feeling win you win your first. What was your first win?

Full Tilt only gave me $15 for coming first in the UK freeroll, and there were more than 900 players!

The first tournament I ever entered (I was 16 years old in a casino), 250 dollar buy in, I won second place. I was hooked for life. My first 1st place win was a 900 person freeroll as well, razz event. Final table, 4 players left, I had 70% of the chips. I won 15 dollars.

I will be shocked if this doesn't turn into a post count spam magnet. I will leave it open until it does.

My first was about 10 years ago on PokerRoom and it was $150 for some kind of a Shark Tournament that I got a free ticket to for depositing on there the first time. It was like the 2nd or 3rd real money online tournament I ever played in. Long time ago...

I can't say I remember my first online MTT win,but I definatly remember my first live Mtt win.
It was in a small town in northern minnesota at a small casino downtown, the cardsroom only had like 10 tables in it and was really small.
The tournament was only around 60 players and the buy in was 40.00 with one rebuy and add on.
I was seriously shortstack is what makes me remember it,made my comeback and won the thing for like 1,700.00 or something.

16 years old Ultimate Bet Freeroll. Like 10K peeps? Don't even remember what I won, but I was thrilled.

For those who haven't won one, do you have any career seconds? I had like 4 or 5 seconds before I actually won a cash MTT. Can be extremely frustrating trying to get that monkey off your back.

It would be as shit feeling to finish 2nd in a wsop Event. Ughhh. $$$ does make it better though.

I won $108 in the $2.20 NL Holdem turbo 180 entrants @ pokerstars at the end of January 2009.

I have won many other tournaments with 27 ,45 or 90 players but with lower buy-in. I can't control myself and I am always going quickly to the high buy-ins.

I think that I am a good player ,but I have the worst bankroll management skills. I am making it to the final table 8 out of 10 times at the $0.25 NL Holdem 90 people at Pokerstars. I always quickly build up my bankroll to $20-30 and start playing $5 Double or Nothing ..or enter many $2-$5 buy-in MTTs ... Then I quickly go down to $4-$5 total in my Pokerstars account and start building it again :(

My first MTT win was the very first day I deposited on Absolute Poker. I deposited $25 and I first played a $5 sng and won. I felt like I was on a roll and I played a $20 mtt with only about 20-30 players. I won like $220 for 1st place. Then my parents found out I deposited money online and they banned me from playing. :p

I had a 3rd place & some other final tables in the $1500 guaranteed HORSE tourney on UB, does that count?

Idk, I just don't have the patience to deal with silly donkaments.

Well actually just remembered I did win a 180-man sng once, think it was like a $5 tourney, but in terms of like real mtts with 1k+ people best I've done was 27th in FTP 50-50. I just can never seem to win that one flip (or in this case AJ vs. QJ AIPF river Q obv) to put me over the top.

I just wanted to add my most exciting MTT win. I had just enough to play a $7 MTT on bodog like 2 1/2 years ago. It had about 450 people in it and I was playing with no care at all. I was basically expecting to lose. Well long story short, I was chipleader from 15 min in the the end when I took the whole thing down for a cool $850. Not my biggest MTT win, but it was definately the most fun I had in a tournament. :)

Maybe MTTs require a different mindset. I have a great deal of admiration for poker players such as zachvac and BelgoSuisse, and I was quite surprised when Belgo was telling us in London that he doesn't have the patience to play MTTs.

Having read some of Zach and Belgo's posts i'm gobsmacked about that. I guess it's better to not know what you're doing.

I won a $100 freeroll on Carbon when it was still Poker.com. An advert with Tina in a bikini led me to download after fiddling about on Pacific for a month or so. 7 days after i started on Poker.Com i won my first red ribbon for the freeroll. 1000 entrants i think and i was proper chuffed. I think it was $25.01 or something like that and i never looked back, won 3 more over two years. Won a $1k free and the saturday $2k free, one on the Carbon skin and one on Wass, all at Merge.
I do much better in MTTs than at ring and have great admiration for those that play ring well.
