I just realised that when I started playing poker it was Draw. Does anyone play remember Draw?
That was a game of understanding the odds, even before you invested any chips in the hand.
A slower game, for smaller table numbers, and one where bluffing and poker play really mattered.
Doyle Brunson once said Hold 'em was the Rolls Royce of poker games, I'm trying to think of a car for Draw poker. I think a transit van, big and slow and difficult to drive but really very enjoyable.

5 card draw was the first poker game I ever played. I was 4 years old if that at the time. My grandmother taught me and my brothers. She would dump out the penny jar, we'd play with it and we got to keep anything we won!

I used to make good money with 5 card. I was more into that than hold em. Now people know PLO and hold em and very few ever go past that when it comes to any of the other variants. I enjoyed that you needed to understand players far more than what we have now.
