Pretty pissed off right now. Got the rejection email today. Would be nice if they would call you and tell you in person they are choosing some sob story over you.
Doubt I'll ever watch the show again after 3 months of jumping thru hoops for nothing but a email saying i was a serious contender but didnt make it, isnt cool.

There selection process is a joke for poker stars shows. I guess its cuz im too young and dont have cancer. Well ill have something to look forward to after a life time of smoking when im 40.

Check me out on the big game season 15.

I guess it depends on just what 3 months of jumping through hoops consists of. I don't know the selection process. But unless it's something extraordinary, I wouldn't have expected anything else if I wasn't chosen.

of coarse i thought i would be picked..my video was better than 95% of peoples out there...And did well in the muiltable interviews they make you do...after they make you do a video interview , youd would think they wouldnt just email you your rejection...i could see that in the beginning of the contest but not for the final cut is all im saying...i was deep in casting thats why im dissapointed..it wasnt a long shot one in a million chance.

I saw your video and thought it was great. To even get as far as you did was a feat few have accomplished, you should be glad made it. But I gotta tell you, taking a crack at someone with cancer is never in good taste.

That's kind of the problem I have with these shows. Why don't they have a play-in tournamnet or a series of play-in tournaments? Win the tourney and you're on the show. Plain and simple. Instead by winning a tournament, all you really win is the right to be in a lottery to be actually chosen for the show. Not worth my time. Just becomes a popularity contest.

An opportunity to win money that you would not have had a chance to win elsewhere? Yeah not worth your time to make a 2 minute video and send a few emails and phone calls. Not worth anybody's time.

True, I regret putting that. It is bad taste. Just pissed off and not thinking when I wrote it. Sorry If that offended anyone.

Unless I'm wrong, don't you have to win a rather large-field freeroll first, THEN submit your video for the popularity contest? Yeah, NOT worth my time. Should make it strictly play-in.

Why don't you make this an interesting thread by telling us in detail what processes you went through, and how you felt during the whole affair, as opposed to the uninformative gripe session you gave us which would make nobody really interested in your story or feel bad for you. Maybe this is the reason they didn't pick you:dontknow:

It is pretty understanding they are looking for a mix of player and story and interesting personality - and that it is a tough job to pick same

Put the shoe on the other foot for a moment - if it was you that had to inform someone and you knew there was a good chance they'd react like you are now, wouldn't you do it by e-mail too?

Other people will be disappointed as well. Thing is, if you didn't get rejected, someone else would of so what makes you think you deserved it more than anyone else? Your cancer comment was kind of sick and even if they did pick someone with a sob story, say for example someone with cancer they would truly deserve this more than you anyway. Wouldn't you agree? They wouldn't have long to live, so why not give them a chance to win some good money and live a good short live if they did manage to win!

Jumping through hoops? LoL I think I'd jump through hoops as you put it to get a chance of winning a million. What do you expect, just put in a request and expect them to put you on the show? Wasn't exactly hard work for you..

Besides which, you look like some russian skinhead lol, dunno if it would be good eye tv viewing ;)

Unlucky buddy!

Really I don't think it would be a great idea for pokerstars to do just play-in. They don't want some weird old guy with no social skills on the show (not saying thats anyone here).

They want to pick someone who is charismatic and entertaining, and after that whether he/she is good at poker.

Who you kiddin.....that's 1/2 the people here, at least. The other half are weird young guys with no social skills. .

I mistakenly thought this was a poker show first and poker skills should be paramount. My bad. Someone who is totally out-of-it would be great. Some mumbling old guy, no social skills, lots of tics, genius at poker.....Where's Paul Magriel when you need him?????   .

Yeah, the chance to win a Million, hardly worth any effort since that kinda money comes so easy :driver:

Hey man, I really feel for you here. Rejection is hard to accept, but you have to understand that show business is all about having interesting storylines, and if you have an individual who has survived cancer or done something extraordinary they will always be chosen ahead of you. It's not like anyone actually expects the person playing in these games to come in and make a killing at the tables, they just want them to be able to create an interesting television show. Just the honest truth.

This. I would be really interested to know what steps you had to take in the process.

Well, obv. we are never gonna agree on this. To each his own. But, oh yeah, while we're at it why don't you regale us all with the number of times you've won a 10,000+ player MTT only to win NOTHING, except the chance to submit a video to a popularity contest. Thought so. If PS isn't gonna make it strictly play-in then they should AT LEAST give some $$$ reward to the winners of the freeroll PLUS the chance to submit a video. Until/unless that happens, I have no interest in playing.
