Would the status quo continue during the 15-month blackout period? Can I continue to play on Revolution and Merge during this time?

Revolution, Merge and similar networks are considered unregulated offshore sites. Players have and always will participate on unregulated sites at their own risk. Following the enactment of the bill and the blackout period, that risk would be increased.

Reid/Kyl appears to include language criminalizing play on non-approved sites. Therefore, “winnings” and any property used for illegal online gambling as defined under the new law would be subject to forfeiture.

Such prospects would become real immediately upon signing of Reid/Kyl or any bill containing similar language, and would not be subject to blackout provisions regarding regulated operator startups. That poker players would allow themselves to be criminalized for playing poker in any form is one of the biggest obstacles against player support for Reid/Kyl.

Really, that is a bad idea.

Why does it not allow international player pools? Is this workable?

The exclusion of international player pools appears to be an attempt to keep all aspects of a site’s operation within the realm of United States jurisdiction, including the players. Lacking such a ban, international players who attempted to defraud member sites could remain outside the sites’ and government’s financial and jurisdictional reach.

I want to play player's from the ROW.

I did not post all of it. I don't know if it was posted before, i looked for it.

from other things I have read somewhere else. I dont think getting it intrastate legalized is gonna help anything, but it sounds like it will close the few options we have left now. So now its like do I want to lose what we still have so the people inNavade can play online poker in 15 months. Did the feds not see the money printing machines both FT and PS are, I dunno, and then if it gets leaglaized in states levels, the feds can come shut it down at anytime

Well Dan i was looking around on the PPA web site and saw this
NGA (National Governors Association) opposes Reid/Kyl
Clicked the link and it took me to 2+2 http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/57/poker-legislation/nga-national-governors-association-opposes-reid-kyl-1260757/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+PPAForumsAroundTheWeb+%28PPA%3A+Forums+Around+the+Web%29

NGA Says It Opposes Draft Internet Gambling Bill

Quote:
In a letter to House and Senate leaders on Thursday, the National Governors Association called on lawmakers to include state input before moving any online-gaming legislation. States have begun taking steps to offer online gambling within their state borders after the Justice Department last fall revised its interpretation of the Wire Act, which deals with state gambling activities. The department said the 1961 law only applies to sports betting, essentially opening the door to other kinds of online gaming.

Letter to Reid, McConnell, Boehner, and Pelosi

Quote:
On behalf of the nation’s governors, we urge you again to involve the states collectively in the development of possible legislation to regulate Internet gaming.
NGA has reviewed draft Senate legislation that would prohibit Internet gaming, whether interstate or intrastate, except off-track horse wagers and licensed online poker. As you know, states that authorize gaming in whatever form derive significant revenues critical to help fund programs for education, senior citizens, military veterans, and other important services.
I'm glad the NGA has said something about the bill.

Poker players are caught between a rock and a hard place again:

Kyl and others don't want gambling but will bend on online poker as long as the UIGEA is strenghtened
vs
those who want to expand and legalize online gaming.

It makes sense that the NGA is against the current poker bill.

All I want is my online poker back. I don't give a damn whether other gambling is legal or illegal, but the damn suits in Washington somehow think it's their job to decide what types of gambling are legal or illegal. They pretend to be against gambling yet there is no one calling for making lotteries, or horse-racing or fantasy-sports betting illegal.

It's way past time for the government to mind their own business. It's obvious to anyone that the things they SHOULD be doing aren't getting done or are getting done badly.

The whole thing makes me sick.
