So what do you guys think about the ongoing regulation of online poker?
Would it good for you if they implement it? Is it already implemented in your country and what is your experience with it?

Hey man ! In my country,Slovakia, there was something like this discussed maybe 6 months ago_Our goverement wanted to make it this way:Only betting sites which had contracts signed with goverement would be able to provide casino games and poker. It would mean that almost no site would do something like this, because Slovakia is such a small country.Sites would have to provide goverement with rake(as taxes). So the only solution would be creating our own poker site.It is impossible for us,because of small player base in our country. So that would mean death of poker in my country.Thing is,it was breaking some EU laws which would lead to sueing Slovakia as a country and a huge fine.

More regulations=more taxes=less for players and card rooms and affiliates.
How can more government regulation be good in anything.

I guess you have a point :)

Well, I agree it will lead to less players, and the ones which remain are naturally better players since they can afford the tax. But there are so much different tax rates around the world, ranging from 15% to 75%.

I mean 15% is "ok" (prefer less ofcourse) but anything more it just too much if you ask me (from a player's point of view).

I knew that the good poker Players and the big Money poker Players were moving to England like Phil Hellmuth because they did not have to pay taxes on thier winnings, woulldn´t one think that when People with big Money moving in that would suffice the Region.

They do it in my country Greece and now we have to pay 15% off owr winnings over 100E a day,if i win 1000$ they take 150$ this is unfair they take a lot off money from us,i think i will stop play to pokerstars for these reason.

So everything below 100E per day is tax-free?
And how is the tax payed? is it done automatically (by Pokerstars) or you have to inform the tax office yourself?

Has there been an update as to when or if it may occur? I heard that there was a possibility of a return of PS to US a year or two ago but havent heard anything since.

I think it is very difficult to regulate when most of the on line gaming is off shore However those countries get their fair share of it weather legal or not and I am sure their are allot of payoffs going on. NJ is regulated and the state makes a nice bank off the online gambling world however it has also hurt Atlantic city in a big way as you can see 3 casinos shut doors of course its not all do to online gaming but why go live when you can play in your pajamas I for one still love the live action

In the USA all income weather it be from gambling or work has to be taxed. When it is regulated the casino (site) will be paying taxes as well. Nothing will change for the players except there will be more traffic.
