Phil Gordon's Little Green Book is a good read for an all round game.

Harrington on Holdem 1-3 and Phil Gordon's little green book were the books I gleaned the most knowledge from.

I would suggest super system,it is a classic read by one of the old school greats.
If you are looking for online poker books there is one called internet texas holdem by cardoza that is an easy simple read.
But I tend to like the books that talk about the fundamentals and the by the book poker like the old days.
Now the game has hanged so much.

+1 on the sit n go books. those 2 helped me a lot. (when I played sng's)

For mtt's, i liked harrington vol 1. I also liked poker tournament formula by arnold snyder. Kinda goes against the conventional poker book wisdom, but lays out what I think is a good strategy for the lower buy in trnys. (I haven't gotten a chance to test it yet, but I like how it's laid out)

I recently read the little green book and I really enjoyed it. Improved my game a lot considering I'm a fairly newish kind of player.

For a basic foundation on NLHE Tournament play, check out "Harrington On Hold'em Vol 1 & 2" (seriously don't bother with vol.3)

And for Sit'nGoes as has already been mentioned, Collin Moshmann SNG Strategy and also "Phil Shaw's SNG book".

You can likely get these at your local library. If they don't have them on the shelf, ask them for an inter-library book loan.

If you feel you're more advanced than these books, send me a pm for some more suggestions or ask here in this thread & I'd be happy to answer you.

gl & welcome to Cardschat!
