I'm sweet enough!
Silver Level
Memories!
1ST Joined CC IN 2007. Think I joined quite a few forums in the day but I liked the feel of this site. I had started playing poker on numerous sites, predominantly a sng player back in the day. Was actually quite good at it and spun up my roll to about $1.5k.
Started making friends on here with some of the new up and coming players, Chuck, ChrisTC, Zach, BW, Belgo, FP, WV, C9 etc etc. We had a good group of really good up and coming players and we used to sweat and often discuss hh's and the usual stuff.
Chris TC was an interesting guy. He had ridiculously aggressive brm. He started a thread chronicling his exploits. He was a really cool guy and spun up his roll from something ridiculous like 25nl to 1knl+ in a very short time frame before he went in to a supernova, batshit, self destruct
mode. Still a great guy though.
Chuck, I remember he started playing the $16 turbo sng's on stars and was doing well. He followed me and started playing cash, think it was about 25nl at the time and also Zach started playing them as well. I seemed to progress (read into that 'got lucky') and went up the levels a bit quicker, but you could tell these guys were very analytical in the play and were going to progress. They had a much more systematic work ethic in the learning side of the game whereas I was just concentrating on playing without the studying.
A few more players joined this little group of cash game players, BW was new on the seen, then if I remember rightly, Belgo , C9, Enty not long after and FP. All following a pretty familiar track as myself, chuck and zach. The one thing all the guys had in common, apart form myself that is, was that they were great at analysis and hh discussion. I often felt out of their league, even though I was playing higher than them.
I was also a member of 2p2 and was a regular reader of the SNE thread. I knew nothing of the Stars VIP reward programme, but I became instantly hooked on the reality of earning ridiculous amount of money through their loyalty programme. I then beagn to up the amount of tables I could play
and realised I was quite good at it. I did well for a few 100k hands and thought right I'll give SNE a crack.
The other cash game guys continued to study and progress were as I got caught up in the SNE bubble. I then managed to luckbox the stars WCOOP main event ticket in a freeroll wtf! I ended up winning $9k and my roll was looking good. At the start of 2010 I decided to give SNE a crack. It
was a helluva long shot but I wanted to give it a go. It ended within 3 months.... not because I ran out of bankroll, I was well within my limits, but 2-3 consecutive losing months and the hassle of trying to play +200k hands per month, and hold down a full time job was just too much. I have
no regrets about this, I enjoyed having a go, and I'm sure one day I will try again.
2010 was the start of a demise from me if I'm honest. Prior to my SNE attempt, I was pretty much a W$SD type of guy with a pretty standard -ve red line. I remember trying to change my style just before the attempt in order to rectify this. I became very spewy, floating lots and just becoming a calling station. It still haunts my game till this day. It's been a shitty time since then if I'm honest. I'm hoping I have turned the corner here though but we shall see.
During this time I did try to give back something to CC members. I spent a lot of time with new kids on the block with Jake, Orange and others trying to give them some decent reading material that I had collected over the years. I'm sure they got something from it or at least I hope they did.
Again this was a busy period for the site as there was something of a mutiny on CC. To this day I'm still not sure what the **** went on, but it ripped the heart out of CC imo. I don't want to go into too much detail, but basically zach and bw left and to this day I still feel it hurt this site. It certainly hurt me!
But this is the forum I love. It all started here and I'm proud to still be a member here. I don't care if it perceived as a freeroll site or whatever. I have made some great internet buddies here and had some great laffs.
I would just like to thank the following: Debs, Tammy, Liam, WV and DM.... tirelessly working behind the scenes with the ban hammer and all, great people and I hope I can call you guys my friends. And in no particular order members who mean a great deal to me Chuck, Belgo, Enty, Blanco (combuboom), Jake, April, Marg, Vanq, C9. Guys who have left include, Rex, ChrisTC, ZACH and bw oh and how could I forget Hott Estelle. I apologise to anyone who I have missed out but I have had 2 bottles of wine prior to typing this out and this is purely done on memory.
GL to all.
ps if you would like me to turn this into a 'WELL' thread then I will be more than happy to answer any questions you like.
