Ok, I get it that some people like to banter at the table, which as long as it is friendly is cool, but some people take this stuff too seriously. What ever happened to a friendly game of poker where you take loses in stride and wish your fellow poker player the best and have fun in a non destructive way? I realize I may be an idealist and this is usually not something I find too often playing live, but it just sucks when people can't control their anger or their physical, mental or financial limits.
Why get on a site and it's obvious you are burned out for the day, and then just start trying to pick fights or call people names because you lost a hand or just start going all in on every hand making it so people can't even play?
When any of this happens, dude it is time to take a break. Get some fresh air, eat something, take a shower, talk to another human being face to face, go to sleep, SOMETHING, just don't ruin the game for everyone else.
Can anyone relate? Am I describing you?
Are some sites just worse than others these days?
Thankfully you can block one player's chat on some sites.

Yeah I understand how you feel and this conversation pops up from time to time.

I was guilt of getting upset/anger when I got real bad beats, but that was years ago and I dont feel so uptight about anything in life anymore. Life issues do come out on the tables and its not fair for others to be acting in this way.

Since then I have become more relaxed about everything in life and it has changed the way I play my game and it all for the better.

BigJamo: That's great how you came to realized the negative impact on others and yourself, and that you are able to have control over your anger instead of allowing it to control you. Self control, to me, is a sign of true strength. This applies to life in general and I'm sure you can agree that taking this approach to life has impacted how others act too, on the felt and off. It is a domino effect.
I am happy for you and your new found freedom.

I ALWAYS berate players after I take their stack. Berating comments include but are not limited to, "FREAKING LOL" "BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA" "nh" "wp" "oh my donk" "#rekkd" and more.

although guilty sometimes of doing a Lil whining after a bad loss, I usually
control it, knowing it's a form of tilt . but the jerks that berate someone
after taking their stack are genuine jerks in poker and life in my opinion.
I expect bad behavior from drunks, not potheads , I would hate to see pot get the reputation of alcohol :) work on it please, lol :p

hello

After reading your response, I have decided to change my behavior. I will now return all the money to the players whose chips I take when it's a bad beat or large pot. You can do that on Bovado, right?

I think people feel the anonymous nature of playing online allows them to say more than they would to someone in a live situation. I view it as information about the player and usually players that say all kinds of dumb nonsense are losers and it is a sign that they are on tilt. As far as "not letting people play" by going all in every time. I love a player that plays that way. You can wait for AA and get an easy double-up or even call lighter if you are last to act and usually have the best of it. I dont see why people would ever see someone going all in every time as anything other than an easy payday. I always hope that they dont stop going all-in or leave before I get their stack.

billbaffles: I totally get where you are coming from. Just like how people act differently while driving as opposed to walking in a crowd somewhere, the human element is lost and there is less accountability for acting like a jerk. People like that are seriously lacking.

As for the all in players (and I should have clarified that I meant pre-flop) they usually bust a better pre-flop hand with some unsuited, low end crap. Now if you are already after the flop then yes, these are easy double-ups, I agree. Unless they catch their runner-runner suckout on you.
It's the pre-flop all in donkeys that make it so you can't really play a hand. These are usually low stakes games or freerolls, but I see it in other games as well. It turns the table into bingo night at that point, which just plain sucks, until they finally run out of luck.

I commend you for taking a vow of poverty, but for those of us who enjoy picking up a little spending money from our hobby, who do you think we get our profits from? Just sayin.

I honestly couldn't care less about those kind of comments. I actually find it quite funny how they get so frustrated with it, while usually they even played it bad and they couldn't expect anything else.
Sometimes I answer them something like 'I love you too, sweatheart', which gets makes them even more frustrated and pushes them to make even worse decisions.

I'm happy about the fact that we can block chats on some of the sites as well. I don't need to hear people ranting, it is distracting, and don't need that in a game.

What? I love those types of players, they are a virtual cash machine.

I think it is a bit rude to berate other players. I'd rather just outplay them and let them berate themselves....either that, or let them keep thinking that they are playing well and just are catching cold cards. Don't want to tap the glass....ever.

I had a guy in the final table of a $100 CC freeroll today calling me a donkey for going all in with a pair of 2's. I think some might do it late game to try and get you in a more aggressive mode, which might equal more aggressive play. Especially when every player that busts out after the bubble increases they're payout.

I can't comment unless I knew the situation better. If I was late in a tourney and a bit short stacked, was the first one to raise, etc., then I might shove with a hand like that.

I guess my point is people don't always understand your reasons for doing things. PLUS, everyone does things differently. If a play, to us, looks like something stupid, we may not fully understand the reasoning behind the play simply because it is something we may not do, whether it's because of inexperience or against our particular playstyle.

Hope that makes sense :)

BBr3:
Honestly, most of the time I will fold pocket 2's unless I can see a flop cheap or the blinds are not too much for my stack.
You didn't say if you won or not. Some people will get mad if they lose no matter what you have and a pair is better than most hands, especially if the blinds are about to eat you up and you take a chance with 2 2 instead of getting stuck with something worse.367

If his M value in a tournament is in the low orange/red range, he is the FIRST agressor (meaning no one raised/limped behind him), then I would shove with 2-2 preflop. You are almost out of the tournament anyways, and playing too passively is not going to help you at all.

Chances are he'll lose. BUT, there is also a chance someone calls him without a pair and misses the flop entirely.

In a cash game, I rarely play 2-2 except for the reasons you stated.

Just my two cents :) good discussion here.

I don't mind a little harmless teasing, but if you get them really nasty ones out I will warn you once. Cardschat does NOT put up with that and neither do I. You always have the option to fold if you choose to. Everyone has bad beats as it is part of the game. If you can't control yourself, Don't play.
