Hi all,

I play partypoker on 10 man tables. I've heard a lot of advice about betting strong but that tactic never seems to work for me.

I thought it was coincidence at first but this has been going on a long time now.

Whenever I'm dealt 2 good cards pre-flop and raise I almost invariably lose the hand whether I hit the flop or not.

If I hang back (maybe even passing on a very good hand until the turn card) I find I can make better informed bets, checking and then hitting hard on the turn or river.

Any comments, advice or suggestions welcome.

Thanks,

Ben.

Hi SCKShadow

Hi all,
I believe you just answered your own question there, you have to play whatever works best for you, that's why many players have their own different strategies, soft players, calling stations, aggressive, passive aggressive and so on. What works for you might not work for someone else, you've tried one method because it's recommended but it doesn't work as well as your own method which has been learnt over time.

Tony :)

Maybe you are not betting enough or too much. You might just be very easily read.

There are way too many variables you have to consider. Each game...each table is different. You can't possibly play the same way in all situations. Sometimes strong betting will win you a lot of small/mid-sized pots. More often than not tho strong betting preflop will just drain your stack that much faster. There seem to be a LOT of people out there that will call almost anything...WITH anything...just to see if they hit on the flop. And a lot of the time they DO hit something.
