It is not about being greedy but being smart. Taking a break is great and 2 hours may be all you need for yourself but there is no time frame that is going to account for bad luck or being card dead. It is just about impossible to profit everyday. You will have break even days and days you loose more then you can grind in a week. It will happen.

I lost a $2000 + pot yesterday when I had the nut straight and got drowned on the river. Lost $1000 pot due to someone chasing an all in flush draw, it hit. Lost $1500 pot in a similar hand as the first one I mentioned and lost 3 or 4 more smaller to mid size pots in similar fashion. All at $1/$2 table. I was way ahead each time. And just like that 6 weeks profit gone. Why do I tell you this .. because there is no accounting for luck. You will run into this same situation if you grind on a daily basis.

You will have to ask the guy that won the previous mention pots. He has them all. The point of mentioning the previous hands was to show you what a downswing is like since you never experienced one. There is no accounting for luck or being card dead. It will happen. A two hour break isn't going to work everytime.

Good Luck !

Absolutely bad idea, for my mind. You never should make poker your main "job", its isnt work this way. You can earn money, you can earn good money, but there is very small amount f players, who rly can only play poker and dont do anything else. You will get bored, you will get tilted, you may lost all. I dont recommend you to do that

I just cant believe people are actually telling you to go for it when it's obvious you have little experience and haven't studied the game. Come on people would you tell your children to quit school/work to become a pro athlete when they've never practiced before?

It's up to you to decide. How confident you are. I think that at least some work for a backup version you should have.

Philosophically life and poker are both about making decisions, you have to figure out on your own whether or not quitting your job is gonna double you up or make you go broke.

The future is in your hands.

if you were making as much or even double what you make at your job, you wouldnt even need to ask the question. Stay at your job, keep playing poker on the side and if you bink a 6 figure score, go right ahead and give your boss the finger for me. Speaking from experience, playing poker is fun, playing poker for the rent is the opposite of fun.

I can tell you for sure it won't be as easy as you think it is.

Why don't you take a two week vacation from the nine to five.

Use it as a trial to see how your plan would work out.
See whether you can cope with the commitment to working at it every day.
See how much you have made at the end of two weeks and calculate whether that would actually cover all your bills and lifestyle expenses.
Then you will have more information to help you with your question.

Leaving all your poker income can be good or bad depending on your priorities, I always advise having a source of income other than poker for those days when luck does not smile at you.

Leave the service to play poker.

I'm focusing on studies now to get results. I do not think it would be good for me to quit my job now to play poker and be a professional. Who knows if I raise a big bankrooll I would leave the service and of course with enough experience to play poker.

How old are you? Do you have a lot of bills? Do you have anybody relying on you to make money? If you don't really have any strings attached you could try and see how it works out. If not, you will just have to go back to a regular job. :)

I totally agree with you!

Id be very happy making around $100 + per day, Everyday playing for around 5/6 hours on $10 cash tables or a few sit n go buy ins and win one a day [emoji846] id have around $500 starting balance

So you have a 500$ roll, play 1 table of 10$ games and expect to make 100$ a day.

Yea don't quit your job, I'm pretty sure you haven't thought this trough yet.

Not only have you not thought this through yet... it is very obvious you don't even have the experience to be able to comprehend what this endeavour entails.

5 or 6 hrs. per day.... why not try 3 to 4 while working? Do that a couple times on weekdays & then play two full days on the weekend (weekends are far softer).
... honestly why am I even giving advice? I don't think you could consistently make $10 per day with your plan.

How much have you made so far playing poker?

How many hands have you played at 10nl tables? (or at any tables?)

Turn off the x-box, splash some cold water on your face. It's time to wake up... get out of your Mom's basement and go out and get a job!

In my 2 cent on this game. If your want to play for living in cash game 1-2$ you will need like 10 000 in your bankroll or account. Just for not be always in position of losing session and downswing mode. You will win and you will loose for sure. If you thing you will cruch all you game , dont quit your 9 to 5 daily jod. G L with your decision

If you want to achieve something you need to sacrifice and take risks, I personally do small business, but I spend more time in poker than at work and I want to say that over the last 2 months I was brought no less money than in business, luck? I do not think, I think this is persistence. Personally, my opinion!

I've done that after a few great months in a row and now I regret It. The pressure to make money destroyed my game, I dont recommend it at all.
