My daughter actually asked me this, what is it that says I'm a US player?
I know we put in our address and such but what if you move? or are in the military moving all over seas? Is it all just from my address? why can't I change it to my uncles in peru or something?

They track your IP address tells you where you are unless you have a program that can mask your IP or make it look like your somewhere else, I think those exsist.

If you have ever deposited or withdrawn from the sites, they have your residence on file. It's an easy database filter to block you out. Yeah, they can filter by IP address too, but most of it will not be on your personal IP, but the home area of the ISP that is in the BGP peering database.

You "could" have your uncle in Peru do it, but you would have to file a change of address/residency with the poker site, which includes proving that you actually live where you say you do.

especially with all this crap going on, I'm sure a lot of people are "moving" out of the country and trying to get a fake address change

Your IP address is what tells them where you are. I am in the UK and when I was on holiday in the USA in November I could not log onto some of the site we use in the UK which do not allow USA players. There are ways to hide your IP address but I am not sure how legal this is.

I think the only places where using VPNs is illegal are places like China or North Korea. Not aware of any democracy where that's illegal per se.

IP address, ISP everything that lets you connect to the internet shows where you are from. There's no way around it.
