i was playing Tx Holdem at work last night and a couple of us had an arguement over a hand, heres what happened...

2 of the guys went all the way to the end...

the board shows Q K 3 Q K

one guy has a pair of 7 and the only other has a high J...

who won? was it the guy with the pair of 7s or the one with the J becuz the board paired the Q and K...becuz J is higher than 7...or would the pair of 7 hold?

The guy with a J won because they both had 2 pairs, Kings and Queens, but J is higher kicker. You dont get extra for 3 pair.

P.s the term for the 77 guy getting done by 2 higher pairs is "counterfeited".

When you are determining who won a pot, each player has to make the best 5 card hand possible. The guy with the pocket sevens has to take the pair of kings and queens since it's higher than 7. There's only one card left to add to that, the next highest is one (but not both) of his 7s. The other player had a Jack. So, he won with two pair Jack kicker.
