Question about Home Games

Hey all,

I recently moved to the Raleigh area. Unfortunately, gambling is illegal here and poker is outlawed.

That being said, I found a cash game on Meetup.com. After a few texts back and forth, the guy invited me to play in his game.

I’m incredibly paranoid about meeting people in private places like this, especially when money is involved.

Does anyone have experience with this? Is it safe? Is it a sting?

I am from the Raleigh area. PM me the name and maybe I can verify if he's ok or not.

Around here, if there isn't a lot of "other" activity like drugs or other casino games, more than likely, you'll be fine. There was a raid or two a while back but the guy was running roullette and other things and drugs were involved. I've lived here for over 15 years and know of a few games but there are a TON of games that go on that I have no clue about...just hear about in passing. I did do a Limit 2/4 game via Meetup when I first came here and that game went on for a year or so until the host moved.

As far as i know if rake is not involved playing home poker game with real money should not be illegal. Dunno if this is valid everywhere though.
