This question just came into my head so I thought I would ask. How often at the poker tables do they get a new deck of cards out? Not sure why I thought about this, but now i'm curious about it.

Hmmm...I'm not sure, but I think that as a player, you can request a new deck.

Seems to me that in Las Vegas they would switch every fourth dealer or so.

I have personally seen the deck switched up about every 3rd to 4th dealer switch and if somebody ends up marking a card in anyway ie. bent corner or something by mistake. I have also seen the deck switched every several hours before. So I think that each casino has thier own routines.

If the cards are defaced in any way or the players don't request a new deck, they usually change decks every X amount of hours. I'm not sure how many. As far as blackjack and other games where the dealer plays, they change decks when the players are winning a little too often.

Right T1 and Jee.........It's called a set-up when the floorman is asked by the dealer to bring one over to his table. Players can request it or if a card is marked bent or has factory blemishes on the cards. Last time I was in Vegas I brought it to the dealers attention since there was a factory blemish on one of the cards in this case the deck was new so the floorman replaced the blemished card. The other time he brought a whole set-up 2 new decks. Since I dealt poker for a number of years I spot imperfections very easy. So keep your eyes open remember you may not be the only player at your table who sees the marked cards.....Rock

there is one casino that i frequent here in Oklahoma that changes decks with the dealer. There are two decks at the table at all times and when the dealer changes, the deck does as well.

At the House of Blues in AC, they now have automatic shufflers built into the table and they alternate decks every other hand.
