Q-9 suited is one of my favourite
hands. It's not a consistant winner but when it does win it can win big, for me anyway.
In one SnG i played a while ago i had Qc-9c, there are 4 of us in the pot when the flop comes 2c-Jh-8d. 1 guy raises it up 3xBB, i call and the other 2 fold. the next card is 5c, giving me a flush draw as well as my str8 draw. Again the guy bets 3xBB and i just call. On the river comes 10d, i make my str8.
2c-Jh-8d, 5c, 10d
the guy again bets, this time about 5xBB and i raise all in. The guy calls and it turns out he had Js-10s, top 2 pair. we were about level on chips though i was slightly ahead so he was out and i was in to a commanding chip lead, which i didn't lose.
the reason you can win big with it is because it's so deceptive. any suited cards with a gap of 2 between them can be big winners but i find you don't really want to go lower than 10-7. J-8 and Q-9 are probably the best 2 as you are less likely to win big with K-10 and A-J because people are more wary of the bigger str8's.
