Yesterday I was playing my typical $.50/$1.00 Limit Omaha Hi-Lo on PS. There was this guy at the table who was hitting everything under the sun... for like a half-hour straight! I was tracking it and over about 25 handsw, he took down $$ in 19 of them! He scooped 8 times, 3/4'd 2 times, split 50/50 7 times and was quartered twice. While I was sitting there, he tripled his bankroll from about $30 to $90. It could have been a lot worse but he had a bad connection and timed out several times when he ended up winning (he would have put a lot more $$ in the pot if not being treated as all-in due to bad connection).

Everyone at the table was just astounded. And apparently, he had been on a roll well before I got there because the chat box was full of comments when I got to the table. This just seems to defy the odds. Is there a possibility that this guy somehow was able to hack into PS? I know this is probably a ridiculous question... and I say it half tongue-in-cheeck... but I just cannot fathom how someone can get that lucky over what was likely close to a full hour.

It happens and when it happens for you play until it stops. I played in a live tourney about a month ago where 1 guy won every hand dealt for the 1st blind level (25 mins) and the 1st 3 hands of the 2nd. He played every hand and actually most went to showdown, but he always had the best hand. He then cooled off but still played every hand to end up out of the money.

I once turned $50 into $400 on bodog .50/1$ games. I only played for about 2 hours and just kept hitting everything. People would ask me if I was using some kind of software or what not, but I was just getting lucky.

It's called the heater and if you look hard enough and snoop almost every tournament, ring game online or not has em. It's this variance makes poker a gamble. It's like Helmuth says if it wasn't for luck I'd win everytime. It's the reason Jamie (donkbreath) Gold won the wsop. I even had a memorable heater lasted little over an hour at hard rock hollywood where I hit every friggin card (like I rigged the deck) and baffled myself, the other players and the dealer. I sat down with $82.00 at a 1/2 no-limit $200 max buy-in table and walked away when I cooled down with $1,900 and change.:)

It happens all the time but to different people........thats poker

Peace

You won't find a hacker playing at those stakes. Just a guy on a heater; they happen; they won't last forever.

If you were going to the trouble and risk of "hacking" the PS database, wouldn't you pick a leetle higher rewatds factor?

Actually, if I were going to hack the system, I would try it at the lower limits first as a test run. Then I'd move up to the bigger limits. (I also wouldn't have done anything to draw attention to me, like do it for an hour or have a poor connection.)

Of course, it's still not a hacker; it's just a heater.

The question is, if you saw the comments on the chat before you sat down to play, saw the streak the player was on, and believed it might be a hacker, why did you sit at the table?

Chances are the guy in question went back on a little later or today and thought it would continue and he is now broke:(

The only "heater" I know of is the #2 I take during the winter months in the morning when the house is still cold and steam arises from the bowl.....

sorry couldn't resist.

I've been a huge luck box on some days and been on the wrong end on other days, it just happens. Variance.
