I've had this idea for a while, and just got it into writable form.

Crazy Texas

Plays like normal Texas Holdem, but incorporates 6 and 7 card hands into the hand ranks. The following is how these new ranks are handled

Straights and Flushes:

6 card straight beats a 5 card straight or flush
7 card straight beats a 6 card straight or flush
When the number of cards is equal, flush beats straight

Other hands:

Pair of Threes of a Kind beats a Full House
Four of a Kind beats Pair of Threes of a Kind
Full Mansion (4 of a kind and 3 of a kind) beats Four of a Kind but NOT straight flush
No 6 or 7 card Straight Flushes

So how's this sound? Insane, demented, delusional, stupid? Or maybe you think this could be really fun or a barrel of laughs? Surely it's at least INTERESTING, right? All comments welcome.

Have you actually run the numbers for the frquency of these new hands and the old hands? I am certain there are likely to be unexpected changes in order, like when you play Canadian stud (4 card straight and 4 card flushes), which really aren't classed correctly (they beat a pair).

I would think finding out what the hand rankings are would be a real headache. I have played 2 flop 5 card pot limit Omaha hi low and that was pretty wild. I would think someone is out there testing possibles games non stop to find the next hot craze...maybe it will be you.

Generally interesting!
Why you did not consider combinations
2 + 2 + 2
3 + 2 + 2
4 + 2
They probably also have the right to be in the ranking.

It's not really intended to be a serious game. More like the sort of thing you'd call in a friendly Dealer's Choice game with your buddies after you've all had a few drinks. Guess I should have been more specific with my questions after all. What I'm most interested in is if this looks like fun. If I wanted to make a SERIOUS seven card poker game, it'd look pretty different from this, I have no doubt. On the other hand, that's certainly a possibility worth exploring...
