Play 2NL ring games until you get to at least $150, then you can jump up to 5NL. Playing any higher than this is outside of your bankroll limitations. If you're wanting to play tourneys, you're still going to need to start about as low as you can go, $1 tops as far as your buy-in. Search around the forums as there are a lot of good posts about proper BRM.

I would say try $2 9 person SnGs, you have more than enough buyins at that level, but of course I am a SnG player. It really depends on what you like to play and what you are good at. At the very bare minimum you should never play a SnG with more than 5% of your bankroll, and never more than 2% on an MTT. Even on fixed limit cash games you still would need to stick to the lowest couple levels.

What are you best at? If your primary goal is to make money, the best way to do that is to play your best form of poker against opponents who aren't at your level of ability. So what's the highest level you know you can beat consistently, and where your $125 gives you enough buyins so you're unlikely to go broke? If you can't answer this question confidently, then start at the bottom.

You should be playing no higher than $.01/.02 until you're at ~$150, then you can move up to .02/.05. Then when you get to about $300, you can move up to .05/.10, and so on. You shouldn't play a limit without at least 30 buy-ins unless you think you are beyond variance(which you're NOT).

You may want to consider building your bankroll to a $500 goal prior to commence actual cash risk at the tables. Play more freerolls on the host site of selection. Then you can open up starting on $0.02 / $0.05 NL, $1 SNG's or the Daily Dollar on Full Tilt.

I think this is a little excessive (500buyins for sit and go's is not properly utilising your roll) IMO you are easily rolled for $2 STT's and I would start from there, with a few dollar tournaments thrown in. if you wanna play the cash game route, then 1c/2c or even 2c/5c is your way to start. And stop playing blackjack!

Cash out $100 and start with $25 and try and work your way back up to $125 a little at a time. Then when you get to $125 cash out $100 and continue.

Don't do this unless you never want to move up from the ultra micros...

:O did you ever heard whats poker bankroll????

Do you see it wrong?

I use 50buy-ins myself also for S&G, i mean a player in bigger stakes or with bigger BR probably is better using 100buyins if want to be safer, but i don´t see wrong 50buy-ins for low stakes in a $100-$200 BR.

Even if consider the 5% rule, 50buyins is even "safer".

If have $100 and use the no more than 5% rule then 5% of $100 is $5, so play $4 buy-ins S&G looks ok, when in 50 buyins with $100 is $2 and if want to play $4 S&G need at least $200 (for the 50buyins), so for me is safer go with 50buy-ins.

Even some consider 30buyins for casual players correct (i think is wild but i guess it depends on everyone)

So don´t understand why you see 50 buyins wrong.

Maybe try some 2 cnet/5 cent rush poker on Full tilt (if thats the site you use). What I like about it is that you can always just leave and "bank" your profits and start again with the minimum (2 bucks) to minimize your risk exposure.

I'm glad CardsChat has members like Hamm and TPC that pick up on bad advice like in the top quote here.

WTG absoluthamm and TPC, even the OP picked up that it was terrible advice. :congrats:

BiznizKid, CardsChat has become quite big now with over 70,000 members, be careful to pick what advice is given to you, most is good but there is the occasional piece that isnt.

absoluthamm and TPC will never steer you wrong.

Also Welcome to CardsChat.

I think you misunderstood the good advice that was given, just like Logan explained in the quote below.

Problem with that is you will never felt the players that have more than the max buy in.
Also, IMHO ppl that do that are just as low as SS POS
