Here is a thought:
is it only me or isnt it kind of wierd that any tourney you play and lost shows up on pokerprolabs and official poker ranking. isnt there supposed to be some kind of privacy guideline follwed by the sites we play at. For example,i dont want everyone of my friends or opponents to know how i do in tourneys. like when u go to alive game and play ,ur just another dude sitting at the table .BUT when online ur one click away from having ur poker resume and ur history available to just anyone. I personally think this is WRONG.
i mean its ok to mention if you won a big tourney but i think to have every single tourney you played and lost online available to the public is an invasion of privacy.

The privacy only extends as far as not telling them who you are irl, your user name is fair game.

dont let the people who know you in RL know your screen name. dont use the same SN on every site.

when u go to alive game and play ,ur just another dude sitting at the table .

you're not just another dude, you're that dude. Smart players will recognise you by your face.

if you dont want people to associate your live with your online play dont tell then your id

This is a common thought. It works many way as well, Say for example a mega fish is down loads, by being able to look at ptr and opr etc, he can see and say," Oh shit, im down 15k this year, better knock it back a little" and it also serves to embarrass them. For good regs or regs in general, ppl can see the results and then choose not to play due to them being too good or whatever.

However its a reality of the game, these sites exist and the data is out there, i believe opr has an exclusion policy as well as sharkscope. Btw, its not something the sites promote, the sites try to not have that data out there but it is out of there control.

yea i assumed it was out of control. im not saying that there can be anything done for this situation to change of course. all im saying is that it bothers me sometimes cause friends that know i play alot always go online and check out my stats to see whats going on and if i have lost alot they make jokes etc. thats why i have 4-5 accounts and i can finally play in ease.lol

I can understand his frustration and I never became one of those stat checking freaks for that purpose. Your friends are idiots, and if you let them get under your skin, maybe you should be hanging out with them less. As far as the one post about people at work finding out, that's a little tricky because it is considered taboo at this point, and it can effect the way they look at you or even maybe get you fired. But again the person that outed him is an idiot.

You need to be secure in your own actions and not worry too much about what other people think, and it's up to you to fix things that bother you in your own life...enough said!

ok heres another good point. all my friends and relatives know i play alot of poker. it has reached the point where just about everyone i know call me a gambler. a gambling addict. a LOSER. they say things like seek help.etc etc. truth is i have never lost any significant amount of money playing poker. more than 200 dollars at any given month. its a hobbie that supports itself . i can be playing with 100$ for 3 months. so mostly its time consuming than money consuming.at least for me. but there is no way to convince anyone about that when they log onto pokerprolabs and see that ive played 5 8 dollar tourneys in one day for example. and then made all that back in a 30 min session grinding cash.so at the end of the day when they look into my history on sites like officialpokerrankings, they make their owns conclusions which has lead me to kind of hide my poker playing habbit like im some kind of junkie. i dont know if anyone has similar issues but im sure some of you know where im coming from.

Bovada..... very secret! :)

Ya I know what you mean my wife checked my stats way back when and would be naggy about it. But whatever you go out to the bar for one night with the guys and blow 200 bucks its just entertainment unless you lose what you need to survive. Just tell them you are playing some other card game like go fish.

maybe you can ask cs to change your screenname, maybe that might start you a new record.and i believe poker sites get payed to reveal player records to those sites.

Believe what you want but from what I have read the life expectancy of humans dropped dramaticly when we switched from being nomadic.

Where pray tell have you read that? Humans live longer now than they ever have. We learned this in grade school.

Wikipedia
In general, the available data indicate that longer lifespans became more common recently in human evolution.[10][23] This increased longevity is attributed by some writers to cultural adaptations rather than genetic evolution,[24] although some research indicates that during the Neolithic Revolution natural selection favored increased longevity.[11] Nevertheless, all researchers acknowledge the effect of cultural adaptations upon life expectancy.[23]

wiki - "General explanation: It is important to note that life expectancy is an average. In many cultures, particularly before modern medicine was widely available, the combination of high infant mortality and deaths in young adulthood from accidents, epidemics, plagues, wars, and childbirth, significantly lowers the overall life expectancy. But for someone who survived past these early hazards, living into their sixties or seventies would not be uncommon."

Your Graph = "Life expectancy at birth takes account of infant mortality"

Okay I am wrong people did not live as long. But if you take out infant mortality the life spans are pretty close.

dmorris68 well you got me I cant for the life of me remember were I read that at. Thinking about it, I am thinking it was some video on netflix. And they were probably talking about a specific culture\region not the whole wide world.

Thats really going to bother me until I can find that video\book again.

You can opt out on PS

I did notice this opt out in the preferences not sure if it will stop the sites from displaying your stats.
