Hi guys.

Some time ago I had a very good piece of kit on my PC.

It would pick up hands in games I was playing and tell me the winning %, my hand ranking, the best hands available after the flop, etc.

Unfortunatly, I changed laptops and forgot to transfer the software back.

Would any of u guys know the name of the software??

There are lots of such programs, m8.

I have personally tried Calculatem Pro, Holdem Pirate and Poker Indicator.

There are also Poker Sidekick, Pokerbility, and Poker Pro 2006, all of which have reasonably good reviews, and probably ten more besides.

Of those I`ve tried, I liked Calculatem Pro the best, but they really all do the same thing and differ mainly in the details of the interface and in which poker rooms they support.

A tool of this sort is of some help as a training aid, to help you develop your ability to appreciate pot odds and to estimate the relative value of your hand in various situations. Beware of the publishers` hype, though. Most of their websites would have you believe that all you need do is follow the guidance given by their tool and you`ll become a world-class player overnight. Garbage ! They`ll help steer you away from beginner`s errors, that`s all.

From your description it kind of sounds like Poker Office. Did you also get stats on your opponents, and was your hands and statistics saved in a database?

Thanks. Don`t worry, I`m not gonna sit and follow the instructions only!!!

I`m a great believer in ongoing training - great Sports people don`t stop training when they are good - they probably train more!!!

I want to use the tool as you say, when I`m playing tournys I would use the tool to support my own calculations.

I play Ladbrokes.com, pokerstars and partypoker. What one would you think is the best for this and what one do you think has the best interface?

The one I had was very good. It picked up the hand as soon as you pressed the button. What I`m not bothered about, but I suppose there is no harm, is the part of the software that helped u to play "like a rock" or "loose and aggressive"

I simply want one that gives you your probable pot odds and lists the best probable holding at that point in time (e.g. U have AT, the flop is 99A, the software will tell you the best holding someone else could have is 4x9`s, Full house A`s full of 9`s, etc - I know this is an extreme example but I am thinking more so of the hidden straight that because of the cards u did not notice!!!)

Some of these odds calculators can provide limited stats on other players, but that`s not really their core function. For the kind of thing you are describing, Poker Tracker is far superior.

Of course, PT doesn`t do odds calculations. The solution is to run both PT and a calculator simultaneously - perfectly possible, if you don`t mind the clutter on your screen.

I did experiment with doing that to see if it would work, and it does. You can run PT (with the Gametime addon for HUD display) and a calculator all at once. Problem is, you finish up with so many constantly-changing displays to watch that it takes your attention from the actual game and is counter-productive. I lost quite heavily the session I did that, and never tried it again. :(

also the hendon mob website has a great online tool, so you wont have to download software etc

Poker Office is showing both statistics and stats, though calculating is not it's main thing. It's pretty much like Poker Tracker but with odds calculating and a built in HUD and graphing tools.

Yep, that`s how I got mine.

If I remember, you have to deposit and play 250 hands ? That`s not a problem, if you play at a low buyin game and play tight. You`ll probably make a profit while you`re doing it. Then you can withdraw your original deposit and, if you want, play on with your profits. :D

I think there used to be also an option to buy, but the price was $100. I don`t suppose anyone ever did.
