PLO is a fascinating game - but many players don't know how to make that transition. Here are some tips:

Pot Limit Omaha vs No Limit Holdem

Have you ever tried to play PLO? If so what other advice do you have for players wanting to test the waters?

I never tried to play Omaha, I decided to focus only on Hold'em. I still need to learn a lot in hold'em so I do not spend time on other games

PLO is great fun. Personally I prefer PLO, cos I think the variance makes it more of edge of the seat stuff. :Less so in NLHE IMO. I would love to be able to play either game at a high level, but honestly think, if you can play Hold'em at a good standard, that you should be able to transfer your skills to all other games, once you have the basics on how to play them.

Pot Limit Omaha is a good game with a lot of fun and a lot of gambling I would say.....

In the micro and small stakes, where we have plenty of bad players, someone who has some kind of basic understanding of the fundamentals and follows proper bankroll management, can make a profit. But above these levels you realy need to work hard to compete with the other regulars. The tips in the article are good, especially about the value of connected cards.

I already tried playing Pot Limit Omaha, however, i think that still need to improve with the dynamics of that format. In this way, i prefer to focus on Hold'em.

in the Pot Limit Omaha you have to try not to enter a hand against many players as they all have much more options to link a strong hand, sometimes you can take advantage of the inexperience of some players in this type of games because they pursue projects after the flop and that is the real danger in this type of poker mode, pursue projects and that can cost you a lot of chips

I love play PLO and like always love to say for that game, it is the nuts game where you can do so many outs after the flop and be so much in advantage on the turn, but in the end, can be smashed with just one villain out. Dynamic of the game have more tension instead Nl Holdem and do have much more actions.I think in preflop game we have much more combinations to play and more experience players are recognized oportunity against new players where they push all with AA,KK,QQ and it is so obvious.

I recently joined a game that frequently plays PLO but its kind of weird. They play high low too. I guess its somewhere in between a limit and pot limit game. there's limit betting, unless you decide to go "all in" which is usually capped at around $20.
I'm recently back into poker after a couple year break. Its a good way to get back in without much of a bankroll.

I like playing and learning PLO, this game is interesting and harder than Texas Hold'em. But I consider PLO as a secondary discipline, and the main kind of poker is No-Limit Texas Hold'em.

I really enjoy playing Omaha and am continuing to learn every day.

I think the best advice for NLH players wanting to learn Omaha: study, study, study! And remember, although it plays a lot like NLH, there are many differences in strategy, betting, etc. (Hence the need to study, study, study.)

Both No limit Holdem and PLO are exciting games. I like them and I have played them both. I think I prefer No limit Holdem because it has more potential from PLO because its rules are more simple than in PLO where we have the rule of 2 player cards and 3 deck cards to combine.

I have played Omaha for years, love Hi-low. Unless the board is already paired, it is a river card game. Draw to the nuts or don't draw at all is the best quick advice I would give. In a full game, with Holdem you will see the nuts about 35% of the time, in Omaha it's more like 85%.

I started out only a holdem player but now i find myself looking for PLO ring games over holdem ring games. It is more thinking involved than just playing holdem imo. Even though i am just ok in both and have more experience in holdem i seem to get more enjoyment playing PLO than Holdem. Loses or winning i prefer PLO better.

I like playing Omaha, but at low limits some players do not know how to play exactly and do some mistakes, this is great for anyone who knows how to exploit them. But I have some problems with these playes how to rely more on luck, it is luck playing against these players, when I played in a club with regular players I feel more comfortable and I make some money.

I also enjoy Pot Limit Omaha, it's fun and many actions. But it doesn't have many tournaments and players so I just play when I need some games for fun.

AA means nothing preflop in Omaha you really need to have the nuts or be sure close to it when community cards are dealt as hands are a lot stronger than when play texas holdem.
Even flopping bottom or middle set loses a lot of the time to bigger sets or draws
It is a good game when want a change from holdem smaller prizepools though as less players play it and the ones who play regularly are usually very good at it big difference in Omaha to holdem is that you must use two holecards.
But you still need to be patient and try and play 4 hole cards that compliment each other.
Pot limit is more strategic than no limit as you sometimes can not push your opponent off their draw by going all in.
