Last Night went to my local casino Buffalo Thunder

Bought into a $1/$3 NL game with $200

Played a few hands won a few went card dead for awhile.

I was dealt As Js raised $12 preflop

Flop Kc 4d Qh

Heads up made a Continuation bet of $15

Other player made a ridiculous raise of $60.

I decided to call.

Turn 10s

I hit my straight

Again I bet out $20

He came over the top again and bet out $60

I called

River Ah.

He checks

I didn't understand why he checked... I threw the rest of my chips in $95

He made a huge shit fit and said "Oh great that whole time you were waiting for that Ace great job!" he was reluctant to call. He called...
I flipped over As Js for broadway which I made on the turn.

He continued to be a total jerk and told me to keep playing like I did. He threw his cards over to show K4. Now at this point I was pissed off at him and made a comment I shouldn't have made. I said "That's what happens when you call a raise with King four" He left his chips and money at the table. I played for another 30 minutes before I left with $517.

I cashed out and was walking out to my car, not giving a second thought about anything that happened. I was just happy that jerk left the table.

I'm walking out to my car, I hear someone running behind me. I get tackled by surprise, it's about 9PM here it's dark. That old man starts mauling me in the face. It seems like it was only a few seconds, there was a security guard in the next parking aisle that saw it all happen and he luckily stopped it. When I was able to get up from the pavement I couldn't open my left eye and blood was filling my mouth from my busted lip and two broken teeth. Had to wait for the police to show up. Luckily it was Tribal Police... they are hardasses they detained him, got video evidence from security inside and I may or may not have to testify in court.

Just disgusts me that a 45 yr old male would attack a 22 yr old after making a bad call.

Looks like i'll be not going out until the swelling in my face and my eye go away. And I need to have cosmetic dentistry to fix my teeth.

Just thought I would share with you guys.

Wow! That's crazy. Obviously the comment was unwarranted but seriously he should be put away for a while for that.

It's not like you actually did much wrong anyway. It's clear from how you described it that this man has serious problem. I hope you recover quickly and can get your medical bills covered, good luck.

You was right about that being a terrible call with K4 to call a substantial raise like that but the fact that after it was over with that he physically attacked ya is just sickening. I hope that you heal up quickly and get your teeth fixed. Maybe next time you might handle a situation like that differently and just let it go at the table instead of argueing back with someone so billegerent but god bless ya hope you heal soon.

Yeah the Tribal Police from that indian reservation are the toughest cops, especially since they have their own laws and punishment they can literally hold him for as long as they want and if they even decided to set a bail for him it would be a very hefty fine. I'm definately going to hire a lawyer and push this as far as it can go. Undoubtedly he's banned from all casinos owned by the Pojoaque Reservation but that should be the least of his worries.

My coworker about 3 weeks ago had something similar happen. But it was uncalled for. Someone walking by him in the parking lot just socked him in the face with a baseball bat and left.

I guess tilting can lead to a lot more serious things than just poor playing.

Why is that a 'ridiculous' raise? That comment actually made me giggle.

This should be a snap fold for you. You've got nothing but a weak overcard and a gutshot, and don't have anywhere near enough money behind to make that call.

That said, of course it's no reason for him to attack you, that's the ridiculous part. It sounds like you'll be paying some serious hospital/dentistry bills, you should definitely charge the guy. Should pay for all the costs and then some. If you didn't get his info, the cops should have it surely?

They definately have it. I have my case number and everything. I would go to court to testify against the criminal charges and would have to get a lawyer afterwards to sue for damages.

That's pretty ridiculous. I hope he spends a little time in jail for it.

Also when he raises the turn go ahead and put him all-in. That Ace on the river could have cost you his last bit of $$ because if he's at least a little smart he'll fold his 2 pair there.

Well I was just letting him come over the top each time until he checked then on the river I threw in my remaining $95 he still called...

Results don't mean anything, if he folds 99/100 times but happened to call this one time, it means you made a HUGE mistake.

WV is absolutely right, you should be getting all your money in on the turn.

Didn't really think about it. But, it would have been disastrous if he hit another king or a 4 on the river... I was just trying to be cautious because I think regardless of if I went all in on the turn he still would have called and I put myself at risk for him potentially hitting a full house. A made hand still would be at risk from a suck out right?

With $168 in the pot after the turn would a $95 raise really keep him from calling to see the river? I watched him play he's super loose-aggressive (obviously)

You're missing the point. You DON'T want him to fold when you push on the turn, you want him to call when he's obviously miles behind (even if he hit a set you're a 65% favorite). What you don't want to happen is that a card (like an Ace) falls on the river and let's him get away from his 2 pair. The whole point of playing poker is to get your $$ in good more often than you get them in bad.

If the board had paired on the river were you going to fold if he pushed? Check behind if he checked?

Do you see how much value you're losing by continuing to play this hand this way?

BTW I hope you don't mind that this has turned into a HA thread. Obviously the guy's a ****ing jerk for taking a bad beat (and it was, you really should fold to his flop raise) and turning it into assault.

wow this does suck. This happens all to much in poker. I think everyone should keep their comments to their self. even in a bad beat situation, it happens never know how the cards will fall. Thats why it is called gambling. I also wish you a quick recovery. Tina

Man that stinks, hope all gets better.
It is crazy the things that happen in life sometimes.
Just be thankful they didnt have a gun or something and go that route.
I was struck once over a card game but this time it was right at the table.
I was playing 6/12 limit and doing pretty well over an hour session, and was being a little loud and tauting to some degree.
The man that I beat in a nice size pot, just got up and walked behind me and suckered me in the back of the head.
It was kinda scary leaving that night.

Crazy, someone just sent me this link cause I said I wish I was in a casino so I could punch the idiot in the face for busting my AA with 66. I was kidding, I wouldn't really hit him. I'm sorry that happened to you. My only question is, how did you let a 45 year old get the best of you???

Just kidding you were hit from behind. I'm glad you didn't get hurt too bad, and all the legal stuff will work it's way through. GL to you in the future and again, I'm sorry to hear what happened to you.

Scary thought really, I would imagine if that happened Sean Pilgrim wouldn't of made his post. More likely we would be saying "Hey what ever happened to that guy SP who joined us last month, haven't seen him around lately"?
Seriously though, hope you make a full recovery and get justice. glad it didn't turn out worse for you in the cold light of day, speedy healing.

wow that is absolutely crazy sh!t. unbelievable. wish those cops would of beat the living hell out of him. or at least gave you a couple free shots at him at the least.

although it def. was a very bad beat indeed. he had 2 pair on the flop and as one has said all you had was the gutshot straight draw with a lousy overcard. not sure why you were calling that at all man, really not sure. had that 10 not come on the turn than what? also after the 10 did come ..why not PUSH than? lost LOTS and LOTS of value my friend, maybe read a couple more books before you head back out to the casinos my friend, you ALLways wanna get all the value you can. you got lucky he called you on the river, very very lucky. he could have saved a hundred bucks.

either way thats no excuse for what he did, wish ya a speedy recovery man and hopefullly you get alll your expenses paid,

best of luck, get better soon, may that idiot rot in hell

Thank you guys for all the comments and support. The swelling in my face is still accumulating but I think it's slowing down. I may have more serious issues from the pounding to my head. I'm running into black outs and double vision throughout the day and falling asleep at random kind of like narcolepsy. Doctor I went to yesterday said I need a MRI (?) (cat scan?). I'm dreading this. Can't recall if I took any severe blows to my cranium or not. It's really hard to keep focus on anything for an extended amount of time without passing out.

Sad, I SHOULD have folded on the flop with that $60 raise. and played how I was supposed to and this would have all been avoided.

Hopefully all the above symptoms are a temporary result of possible brain swelling and will pass in due time. Unfortunately all I can do is hope that that is what it is and hope it's not going to affect me for the rest of my life.

I contacted the Pojaque Police Dept, they still have him in custody and I found out a little more about the aggressor. This isn't the first time he's done this at a poker table, this isn't the second time he's done this at a poker table, or a third or forth. This guy has an aggravated assault and battery record from three bordering states with multiple convictions from all three states on and off the felt. How this guy is still allowed to walk free is a mystery to me.

I don't think you can blame yourself for "not folding".This idiot was looking for trouble and you just happen to be his victim.

I wish you a swift recovery and the best of health!
