Noticing alot of players at pokerstars in NL5 that have there location as (||||||) or (|||-|||).

What does this mean?

Is it that they are freeroller who have won little money and are playing at this site causal? Should I be more aggressive against these people as they have little bankroll and will fear big bets?

Jus a random idea.

All it means is that where they are supposed to put their location they have put |||||| or this |||-|||, just like I have www.cardschat.com at Titan for my location.

Is there any particular point to this, account safety or something?

With the exception of the time I saw you at a table Ukaliks in a MTT, I don't think i've ever played with another english player at stars. They all either seem to be Eastern European, the occasional American and lots of South Americans.

In addition to your point, I have noticed a couple of people with their locations as that. Could be another forum maybe, a group of mates or just putting that as their location for a joke.

Yeah I noticed that too.
Maybe its because PS cant deal with some foreign characters. Eg slovak, russian, asian etc characters...

Unless PS has changed their rules, players are required to enter their true and accurate 'location'. If you report the user to Stars' support, they will usually make the player enter a correct 'location'.

It means they're bots. No, not really. Just trying to stir the pot.

I have seen some very strange locations at more obscure sites, like;

Dark side of the moon

My space

The rising sun

Route 66

In your head

Mobey Dick

Just a few that come to mind, I quite liked in your head!

So are your saying you would fold AA if someone had that as their location, Damn Im changing my location to it, maybe your not the only one that folds to them.
Play your hand, not what some dick has as his location.

when you see the lllllll.....try making your table bigger then look again and you'll see something like this: Город Москва

most times you see that because they're Russian and their location is written in the cyrillic alphabet.....at small sizes Pstars software cant seem to print it...

see the same llll ll lllllllll in the chat at both Pstars and FT when your table is small enough....stretch it a bit and cyrillic letters show up

A location I recently saw on Stars: Why Do You Care

I've always wondered how real money players can get away with entering false locations, or no location at all.

Probably isn't noticed till they decide to cash out. It would be a nightmare to try and check every account signing up that the location is properly filled in.

It's not just on PS that they do this. I've seen hundreds of players on the Cake Network with these fake locations. I always assumed they just wanted their location to remain unknown for some reason.

They aren't supposed to. Stars will make them enter it if you report the user ID to support.

Probably isn't noticed till they decide to cash out. It would be a nightmare to try and check every account signing up that the location is properly filled in.

Cashing out is a gr8 time to catch offenders. Location is also something that is easily changed multiple times in a players profile. It could well cause problems though when someone tries to cash and security sees them changing their info regularly.

It's not just on PS that they do this. I've seen hundreds of players on the Cake Network with these fake locations. I always assumed they just wanted their location to remain unknown for some reason.

For those that haven't got caught with multiple accounts yet, or (for instance) a college or work group decides to collude in a small SnG ... they don't want "Rochester" to appear in the location for 4 to 5 of 9 players at one table.

They may do it for an 'unknown reason', but site Security may insist on knowing that reason before approving a withdrawal ...

This isn't @ PS but @ FT...I'm in the restricted $250 US freeroll & there's a player who has their location as Columbia . I asked him/her how they reg for this game; they're claiming that they couldn't get into the Latin America game? Another player stated that this other player was in the US since FT goes by ISP addr...guess he/she will have an adventure if they have a bankroll & want to cash out .

It could be that your computer can't display those fonts, but usually they come off to boxes and weird characters.
