Guys!
did you noticed that you can now see the players hole cards when you use the replay button? its near the history button on the table.

Is this a good thing or a bad thing??
I think this is not good because players can see how each other play
their hands. Other poker software use this, i know, but they are paying
to get this info. and now pokerstars are showing it for free. too bad for
those who payed for one.

Let me know what you think...

You've always been able to see others' hole cards. The replayer only makes it easier to read - the hand history file was there all along.

that is right. like fulltilt, hole cards are shown only if they went on showdown, but in pokerstars' update they also show it even if you mucked your hands...

Just replayed a hand and the only hole cards that were shown were the ones that went to showdon.
What I really like about this feature is you can look back at hands and make more detailed notes on players within the replay window.

No, it doesn't. I just deposited to Stars to see if what you said is correct, and it isn't.

You could always see the other players' hole cards. My HUD displays them after every showdown, and they're also in the HH.

Obviously, it's great to see your opponents' hole cards because it gives you valuable information. If you're a good player, the advantage of seeing other players' hole cards far outweighs the disadvantage of your own hole cards being visible.

Failure to understand basic poker rule stating that all players are entitled to see all cards that go to showdown.

lol Full Tilt does it too, and this isn't some new feature either. The new feature is the replayer, the cards were visible before.

Whats so bad about doing something they've been doing all along? The only difference is this is more convenient for the players.

The only thing that sucks about this is that it takes away the hilariousness that comes from players, such as a few of our friends here, that haven't figured out what happens if you click the little number in the top left corner of the screen, and think it's safe to lie about what they had.

"u got lucky there."

(says the guy with 8 high who missed his straight vs. my rivered two-pair)

"oh?"

(says I, innocently)

"had KK"

Someone else at the table then proceeds to tell him that no, you had 8c6h, at which point he'll start calling people cheaters and swiftly leave the table.

Oh, good times.

(Why do they always claim KK?)

From a few of the replies to this thread, I'd say Stars adding the replayer is a BAD thing for a lot of you. Seems people didn't understand what was available before just without the pretty pictures.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure all it is is a visual representation of what's been in the text-only hand history all along.

I like this feature because once you win a hand that goes to showdown you deserve to see what your opponent(s) have. See how they played the hand, what they were betting on, etc. I always hated when you won and everyone mucked there hand and you never got to see what they have.

@#%@#%@#%@#%@#%@#%@#%#@%

You DID get to see what people mucked.

Look in the text hand history, and look at the bottom. If someone mucked their hand it will say [whoever] mucked [xx xx] or something like that.

I REPEAT, THIS IS NOT A NEW FEATURE. THE FACT THAT IT'S VISUAL IS NEW BUT THE MUCKED SHOWDOWN CARDS WERE ALWAYS AVAILABLE IF YOU HAD JUST GONE INTO THE HAND HISTORY OR ELSE IF YOU HAD A HUD THAT DISPLAYED THEM I'M TIRED OF YELLING NOW SO I'LL STOP.

Failure to understand basic poker rule stating that all players are entitled to see all cards that go to showdown.
This. ^^^^^

Any player or the dealer can request to see any mucked cards at showdown for any reason. This is a basic rule of poker, pre-online age, that was instituted to prevent cheating in the live game. But it is deemed very bad etiquette in the live game to invoke it. But now, online sites have it automatically invoked to show that there is no cheating at their site.

Folks who plan on playing live poker someday had better get a good handle on ALL the basic rules of poker before they are up to their eyeballs in it at their local cardroom or at a vacation casino.

You have always been able to see this information in the hand history.

I voted bad, because it makes it easier for people to see them.

Anything that makes it easier on people I don't like. Like the bet pot button, I hope stars never puts that on the UI.

Are u kiddin? the bet pot button is awesome, please add it, it allows donks to bet pot when they want to make a nice bet into my nuts.

To the orginal thread though, lol at people that think you couldnt see mucked SD hands before. This "new feature" lol just lets your average donk see the mucked cards easier, much easier.

weeeee, it's at the play tables too. Although, when I decide to come back to real games and donk more $$ away, it will be a nice feature. However, I'd rather just have a HUD replay similar to PT which simply displays amount won/lost and players hands. Being that I was just in the hand, I usually remember how it played out. Now, if you could enter a hand # somewhere, maybe in the lobby, and replay any hand, that might be nice.

It only sows the showdown hands, and most card room will allow you to see this upon request as well. Online they don't have the time to handle 100M requests for hole cards after showdown, so why not just make it standard. If we all have it... we all have it.

i think the feature is a bad thing, its a reason you can muck your hands that doesent win a showdown and thats because you dont want to give your opponent information on how u play the different hands. why do we have a rule that says you can muck your hand, if the opponent still can see what you had?? its ridiculous!

It's not just for your opponent. It's for anyone at the table and (I believe) it's in case someone suspects collusion/cheating is going on. As stated, it started live and has been used online as well, so don't blame online sites as they are just using a rule that's been around before computers were probably thought of.

BTW, where's the neutral option? It's an OK feature, but as all stated, it was there before so I'm ok with/without it.
