I am going away on a cruise next week and will be playing in a satelite for a cruise and 100K guarantee tourney in October.
Has anyone played on these pokerpro machines? Will it be the same as playing online? but sitting across from the other players?
Hopefully when I come back I will move this to the Brags Thread.

Yea - it is okay when a live dealer is not an option. The rake can be high but the players are usually so bad that it makes it worthwhile.

How bad is the rake?
% and cap.

They have a cheek charging high rake when they're not even hiring a dealer.

I used these on a trip last month. Found it very hard to read the cards. The lighting in the room was the problem so choose your seat with care.

I have used them on two separate occasions on cruises. First time was quite successful, over 1300 in 5 days. Second time was ok but was filled with drunk college spring break kids looking to throw their parents money around who seemed to catch a few lucky breaks.

OK so back on dry land again. This Pokerpro was better than no poker at all. The play was horrendous! Many springbreak kids just trying to give their money away.

There was only one table and it was usually almost always full. The rake was tough to calculate, it seemed to increase percentage - wise as the pot grew. guessing the rake was 10-14%.
There was a tourney held once each day on 3 different days. The buy in was $100 + $50, how bout that fee? Needed a full table and it was a winner take all. Stayed out of that!

Played the $1 / $2 no limit cash games and I ended up down $5 for the week. Which was amazing considering the play. Here is a typical hand
I was dealt Q, Q with 10 players in the hand. I acted fist and raised to $10, hoping for everyone to fold.
Folded around to BB who calls. Flop is 3, 3, 4, BB checks and I bet $10, BB calls again.
Turn is a 10, BB checks I then shoved and put him all-in. he calls and turns over 3, 4 off, for a flopped full house. This went on all the time.

I still had a great time though. Especially since I won $485 playing live at the Hard Rock in Hollywood, Fla. last night (that's my tiny brag)

I know you didn't ask for a review but how in the world is $10 into a $20 pot going to get everyone to fold? You are giving 3-1 to the first caller. That bet needed to have been a bit over $20.

did you use the confirm button to your advantage ? at the right time you just hit the all in button and observe the reaction . then confirm or cancel . I've used it for fun but never to get an advantage . glad you had good time cause that's what it's all about . thanks for sharing :)

1$/2$ so wouldnt UTG be putting 10$ in a 3$ pot?

I agree that in a game full of drinking partying tourists, you cant expect folds but a 10$ open sounds ok to me. I am betting that flop as well, but bigger.. Did you have any reads on him Nats? sounds like he thinks hes Tom Dwan..... calling 3 4o lmao. Sounds like my session today at .10nl.......

OK, I aint laffing now.............

EDIT: AHA Media, I see what you meant now, you mean on the flop.

Played these machine many times on Carnival cruises. Game is always fun b/c everyone is on the boat drinking and having a good time, lots of smiles at the table. Last cruise was first one were I ended up about $100 ahead after taking a wicked beat in $800 pot the first night of the cruise when I couldn't get my opponent to fold his bottom two pair against my turned nut straight. Got it all in on turn.

Rake is 10%-10%... they pull a buck at every $5 point. Max rake was $5-6 if I recall.

With the level of play the game is very beatable as long as your opponent doesn't keep sitting with $20 or $40 bucks.

I am sceptical of this to say the least. People may not realise just how huge that rake is. I have over the past few months made the transition from sit and goes and mtts to cash tables.

The major thing I have noticed is the rake. I have been looking up many of what I perceive to be the best players at the stakes I am playing and there win rates are not as big as people would think. typically most of them are multi tabling like me.

One thing I notice is that the majority of there money is coming from rakeback.

if your playing a typical low stakes fixed limit game for example you can expect to pay 5BB in rake and an exceptional player usually achieves 2bb in profit before rake back.

if your playing 5+ tables this can be an acceptable profit of $22.50 an hour. not a career but an impressive start to bank roll building.

now if you increase the rake from 5% to 10% your now paying 10bb per 100 hands.

you go from been a winning player of 2bb per hundred before rakeback to a losing player of 3bb per 100. I assume these cruise chips are not offering rakeback.

the point is set the rake high enough and it is almost/literally impossible to beat.

I do love the idea of been on a poker cruise ship with total idiots but 10% nope will not do it.

do they charge you for cruise tickets? at that rake charge they should be paying you to go.

Luke... Good analysis... when it comes to playing online poker. Online poker is always a bit harder than live play. Live play is still full of people that play a lot of poker.

But this 'live' play is on cruise ship and lots of people looking to have fun. Not unusual at all to have half the table full of dead money. and they are more than happy to give it away.

i was going to post a topic about this. I just thought its a bit silly going digital in a live game. It takes away the aggressiveness of playing live.

 too high the rake, full tilt and pokerstars are around 10% and is too much,
