Hey guys,

I haven't played poker period in about 5 or 6 months. I haven't had much luck finding up to date comparisons of these programs anywhere...Has there been standout update that makes one an overall winner right now that I missed in my absence?

If not I'll go back to PT.

Word on the street is that HEM is now better than PT - but harder to install successfully.

Try both HEM (2 week trial) and PT3 (60 day trial).

I brought PT3 1st, then HEM. I stopped using HEM because I don't like it as well as PT3. Just figured I'd throw that all in there to show you you really need to try both and decide for yourself.

I have not seen any full on review of the programs--but not too long ago I won a choice of free programs including HEM and PT3 etc. In my mind I thought it was a no-brainer to pick PT3. Just to be sure, I posted in several forums the same question, and was shocked to see an overwhelming majority of top players pick HEM.

Suffice to say I went with HEM. While you need to be a rocket scientist to work these programs--I think at least HEM is fantastic, and they are constantly imporoving the product and have a great staff that answers all questions at the HEM Forum.

Whatever you choose, they all are useful to play better and understand your opponent and your own game.

Also, several allow you to get the program for free if you deposit and download using their code. I would not choose that option though as opening a rakeback account would be more profitable than using it for the money to buy the program. Some people dont have the $75 or w/e it is to buy though..so you gotta do what ya gotta do to improve the game.

One day I will figure out the entire program so I can take full advantage of its benefits. :)

There is a fairly general consensus now among CC regulars that HEM is better than PT (although the latter is also perfectly serviceable)

The latest version of Poker Office has good reviews, but PO is more expensive than the other two. You buy a year`s licence, rather than a permanent one. That is difficult to justify.

if you don't have $75 to spend on a tracker, you don't have enough money to play poker anyway.

If ya can't beat $2 NL without the tracker, it isn't going to help...

Why is it not even close? I've only begun my HEM free trial but it doesn't seem remarkably different than PT3. Slightly better interface, but nothing poking its head out and saying "hey, this is way better".

You will get basically what you need from PT3 or HEM, my comp sucks and seems to dislike HEM greatly so I use PT3.

But I liked hem, alot, it is a solid program when you can get it to function properly. If I get a new PC I will probably buy HEM.

Better filters. But mostly it's reliable. When it was released, PT3 had very serious support problem and was extremely buggy for the first 6 months or so. That means you can never be sure it will keep functionning properly with poker sites update. HEM has a much better record in terms of reliability.

Would it be fair to say that one is better for cash game players and another one for MTT/SNG players?

I almost purchased PT3 in the past, but like a lot of you read the same reviews about Hold 'em Manager. I actually ended up downloading the trial of HeM, but didn't get it working properly. Their tech support was actually not that helpful for me, so I put it aside. That was like ~6 months ago.

Anyone know of a good tutorial on how to use this thing?

the instructions right on HEM are extremely thourogh and I was able to download it all easily by following step-by-step. The hand spoon you the things you need to do. Maybe re-look at it now.

HEM used to be mainly for cash...but they have just completed the version that includes full MTT coverage for many sites and are adding more sites from what they say.
