There are so many websites about "Learn how to play poker" and "How to win on poker tables" that try to teach you to play your cards by a certain way (which most of the time is the loosing way). Do you think that those "poker teachers" advisely are creating Fishes

I do not think so when you see them play, you see that really play well obviously it is also about the way we play and that we should go adjusting to a "good" game.
for example, to my mind not angry me a lot when I lose a good hand and is what most often leads me to lose tournaments

If you can't do something yourselve, you can teach others.
I think there is few people, who really can teach people to play poker. Most of those who affer such service - is speculators. They only want to take money for nothing.

Well let's see: Phil Galfond, Vanessa Selbt, Phil Helmuth, Blair Rodman, Andrew Seidman, Collin Moshman, John Turner, Vanessa Rousso, Jonathan Little, Dan Harrington, Eric Lynch, Brian Hastings, and Daniel Negreanu are some of the many poker professionals who not only can do, but also have taught at one time or another. The question I have about online and written teaching is "How much proprietary information has been held back?"

Cheers!

No, I think that poker teachers try to establish a better poker foundation for you. Poker is not as easy as it was years before. You should always be learning something new.

Pff, teacher will teach you how to play his game, not yours. You just need to practice and to have a good feeling of reads! Nothing else.

Jeepers! This thread reminds me of people who try to teach themselves golf and then can't understand why they inhale through a straw (suck). There is no endeavor in human history where we can not improve by building on the knowledge/expertise of others. Poker is not an exception.

Now, excuse me while I breathe into a paper bag to settle down. :)

Cheers!

Lots of unteachable fish in this thread.

Fortunately for the whole of the poker community, there are huge schools of fish out there who are not only unteachable, they don't even believe in teachers.

Its refreshing to read that the fish don't believe in teachers :)

I def think a lot of coaches at various levels do not disclose even close to the amount of information they actually know about poker. On the other hand I think there are coaches who disclose everything they know. I think it's up to the student to do the research and make sure the coach they choose is very reputable. Most the reputable ones are very, very, expensive though. But still worth every penny in my opinion.

There are many pages but always read and study with the most serious, which are renowned, in my case I read a lot in the school of PS and other sites which all something they teach you, but the biggest key I've learned apart from take chances and getting carried away sometimes intuition is to have patience that is the major key, in my opinion, to succeed in poker. regards

It's like everywhere else. Just because someone tells you, how you have to do it, doesn't mean that you can also implement it immediately. That all comes with experience.

I think the best teacher is experience. You have to figure things out for yourself at some point.

Teachers can help you with some of the finer points - like position, for instance. But there are so many different ways to play poker, that I really think it is up to each person to figure out what works best for them.

Experience is the only right teacher.
We can all agree that we are surly better poker players now then at that time we started playing.
Those ''teaching'' sites teach you nothing - there are very little(or none) poker hands and situations that can be explained how to play in one or two lines.

Pokerstrategy isn't bad site for novices, and it give some basic strategies. All such a sites need a good regular players to receive income. So, if their strategy is bad, they are dying.

I think there are good and bad teachers out there. It's up to you to find the good ones and to be able to distinguish.
I agree with ou BDK Shobby. Intellipoker is a good side.
