Can poker stop the war ?

if only we can force fighting parts at hot spots to sit at the poker table and to solve the reasons for which the conflicts began in the game...
then poker would become a game of peace throughout the world.

At any war you will die first...

Personally, I am against such a development. And I am opposed to poker was the first game in the world. Because if a poker game will be the first in the world, I think it will be all sorts of officials who will create a lot of taxes for the players.

I think wars would be far more better sorted out via a blood sport style tournament between the warring countries best fighters.

Playing against people you don't like at a poker table generally doesn't eventually produce feelings of love, goodwill and rainbows towards those you hate(ed).

(un)Fortunately emotions run high at poker tables...and therefore aren't the most productive grounds to establish peace.

Wait....poker instead of war? And which poker game? Blinds? Antes? How many seats at the table? Padded chairs? Will the room be heated? Are we using an action clock? Oh jeez!

If they can't agree on sharing a border (or whatever) then how can they agree on something like poker?

It is an ambitious idea and there is a long history of battles fought only by the "strong" man from each side (remember David and Goliath? there is also a great scene in the movie Troy).

Your post does remind me of the Star Trek episode where 2 planets would launch "simulated" missile strikes and the affected populations dutifully reported to killing chambers. They did this because it was clean, "humane" and tradition for their culture. Kirk was like, "Waaahhh?"

History already has proven that poker can lead to violence, not that it stops it.
