Thank U 4 Posting

Yes poker is gambling. Anytime you wager on the outcome of something you are gambling.

The question you want to think about regarding poker is can you work hard enough to have a big enough skill edge over other players so you are guaranteed to win money if you play enough hands of poker versus them.

Variance exists so you can be better than your opponents and still lose for periods of time.

Hope this helps

for some people, poker is work, for other people, poker is entertainment. Poker is a gambling game for money that can be played from the age of 18. Because of the non - bankroll game - ludomania-not controlling your actions, poker can turn your life into a real hell, you can lose an unlimited amount of money if you try to play at high limits, feeling like a poker God and hoping to win big easy money for the rest of your life in a quick time. Yes, you may be lucky, or you may not be lucky, no one knows. There are people who are broke and take out loans and play poker with this money and then after losing they have nothing to repay the debt they do not think about the consequences and kill themselves out of desperation

I don't see poker as gambling because it is possible to consistently "earn". Professional poker players earn a living playing year after year. Some (many?) of their opponents are gambling though.

The difference is attitude - are you trying to "earn" or to "win"?

Yes it is gambling even some high stakes pros who cashed for over a million are reduced to looking for backing as that million dollar total cashes does not cover their buy ins and rake in many cases.

I think you can play a gambler poker style. Overall poker is more skill than luck.

Poker is many things, gambling one of but many of the lack luster descriptions people generally and not so generally give it. Poker is beyond description really but an analysis of spots through calculations can be a good substitute.

I see this question many times everywhere. Yes, it’s basically gambling, but here’s your biggest say in how things turn out In the long run, game knowledge will decide

Although many will disagree, yes, in some ways.
One is that poker is a game where you need luck to win.
The aspect where poker is considered a sport, is in the question of tournaments, where there is a clear dispute for placement, among the best placed in the tournament.

Is poker really gambling?

Don't ever forget this. Never! I know too many people who paid for it. Although, a lot depends on your attitude to the game.

Of course it’s gambling. The way I look at it there is more skill element than say bingo or VLTs Poker needs to read players, know your position, read your cards, know your tells But it still luck involved that is still 50% but not 100% like scratch tickets Of course if you can bluff players off a hand at showdown, is a really skill doesn’t require luck.

Luck plays a part

Since there is some luck involved, I definitely think that poker IS gambling. If there was absolutely no luck involved then all the math geniuses would be great poker players. And this is just not the case. Just my opinion.

Of Course It Is...

It is ABSOLUTELY GAMBLING...

You are GAMBLING that your combination of SKILL AND LUCK is good enough to profit vs. your buy-in. Bigger Picture, over many games, still the same concept, just over more time.

Because of the randomness of cards, and randomness of player decisions, there are no guarantees in poker. The best player does not always, perhaps even rarely, win. You are gambling, no matter your skill level.

Obviously, the more skill you have, the less luck you require to win, and therein lies an edge, but still a gamble. Perhaps if we could all play 5 Million hands against each other (and I would argue this is a small sample size) at equal stakes, then maybe we could say those that won big were not really gambling, they were just better than the rest of us.

Best of Luck at The Tables All,

Undoubtedly, poker is a game of chance, where there is a thrill to win a fortune. The main thing is to control yourself and not let your passion lose your mind.:D

When there is an input of value with the expectation of better output in a game then it is gambling. In that sense poker is gambling.

In the face of this definition, however, i think playing poker freerolls are not gambling because there is no input of value.

Welcome to our community.
Undoubtedly, poker is a gamble, but this game depends more on the skill and experience of the player. Luck is also important, but at the distance the skill and experience of the player are crucial. That is my opinion.

I don't see how poker is a game of chance !! It is a game of skill, emotion, strategy, thinking, insight ... besides all this, luck is somewhere around 5% in my opinion, so in conclusion it is not a game of chance because luck in this game it is very little. I'm curious, those who consider poker to be a game of chance, how much did they earn by playing based on luck?

It all depends on the person. Some poker get very gambling and they get into debt. For others, it's just another fun. Gambling does not affect me because I understand the price of gambling well.

My definition of gambling personally is that it is where you enter a situation with significant risk, in the hope of an upside.
Therefore, poker can be gambling, and it absolutely is for the vast majority of people, myself included, however, if a player is good enough to be profitable in a field of players, then provided that they are able to get a large sample size, it is not gambling as the risk approaches 0.
For this reason I also do not think that a casino providing gamblers with roulette tables to play on is gambling, as while the casino may lose money in the short term, their risk approaches 0 as the number of roulette games approaches infinity, as they have an edge, much like a profitable poker player.

I tend to think that poker is a game of chance. But many types of entertainment and sports, mainly gambling, do not have such a material basis (in the form of finance) as poker.
