Poker personality vs everyday

Ok this may seem silly to some, but without counsulting Dr. Phil, do you act or react differently when you play poker? Do you sigh, laugh, or curse when you suffer a bad beat...get cut off in traffic? Are you more aggressive playing a hand that you think is a winner online as opposed to in person? If you don't want to type anything emoticons are understood and welcomed.

I have come to the conclusion that I am not even half as efficient online than in live cash games/ tournies. A bad beat would faze me only for a minute live compared to ruining my day online. I've found it best just to focus on the task at hand ( as if I'm at work ), and get the job done as best as I can.

I never let a bad beat get to me. What is the point. You will only lose more!!!

Ab-sol-root-ree! ... and it irks my wife to no end... I'm by nature very laid back and easy going... not a leader of the pack nor a follower...

When playing poker or chess live, I go into this "over self confident, almost arrogant, go ahead... call my raise... I DARE you!" kind of persona...
I'll make a smooth call with a little half-wink and smirky smile... might be holding top two pair or on a pure draw... give a little nod in the direction of the my opponent with a look of "go ahead.. keep on betting into me..."

the last time I played against my wife in chess (I'm trying to teach her one of my favorite games), I had to try extremely hard not to move my pieces "that way"... it's not something I try to do, it just kind of happens!

oooooh... traffic... another one of my odd personalities that crop up... I am very tolerant of how anyone else drives... as long as they're consistant... drive slow? No problem, I'll get around you when it safe to do so. Drive fast? No prob. I'll move to the right and let you pass first chance I get. I will way you on and thank you if you beat me to it.

However, if you bust your rump to pull out in front of me, you darn well better go the speed limit! If you drive like you don't have a clue and have a bumper sticker for a candidate I don't care for... I WILL yell over to you... "BTW... You drive like you vote... without a friggin' clue!"

I usually play and live pretty laid back. I like getting a bad beat and then getting a monster hand right after because everyone thinks you're on tilt. Usually get a dumb caller.

well i seem to get alot more aggervated at people when playing poker some plays for the amout of the bet are crazy and others that take forever to decide rather they want to call your all in bet or fold is crazy either you want to bet all your chips or not how hard is it to decide that so yes my personality on poker is different than my real life

Personally I think my poker personality sorta reflects my real personality pretty well. I'm naturally pretty laid-back and reserved but also extremely competitive. Even if it's football in the neighborhood I have to win. So when I'm playing poker I'm usually pretty relaxed but also pretty focused on succeeding.

Just comes down to defining success. Most poker players are competitive. If you define success as winning any given session you're gonna get pissed. If you define success as getting money in good and making good decisions, it's going to be a lot easier to stay calm and avoid tilt during short-term downswings.

Either situation warrants the excessive use of some four letter words.
I mean, a bad beat or getting cut off in traffic must tick you off?

That is a very good attitude. Right now I am real angry at one player who took half my roll at a site; I know he is good but I want to go back HU and bust him; I also know I am really steamed at his taking so much from me, winning every hand all night.
If you can stay cool zach and be dispassionate, it will work in the end. MAN AM I STEAMED!!!

When i first started playing poker my feelings would act out with whatever was happening in my game. But Know I feel like Im an elite actor and the poker table is my stage . I can drink and eat and talk trash make friends genuinly and still know whats happening in the game . THE BETTER YOU GET AT POKER AND THE FASTER YOU GET AT KNOWING HOW THE PLAYERS AT YOUR TABLE ARE PLAYING , WILL ALLOW YOU TO BE MORE AND MORE YOURSELF AT THE TABLE. Like Daniel
