Do you guys think is there any connection between the game of Poker and the personality of someone?

I understand, that without any doubt if you are playing with someone who is very conservative, you most probably see less risk that if you play against someone who is very risky!

I personally think that is not possible to win at poker without bluffing, but is also not possible to win bluffing all the time, because this is a game of moments and of course sensations that you need to connect to create the best strategy at any particular moment (that sounds great but how difficult it is), so you will need to find an equilibrium.

Am I wrong?

Then the question is if you would need to "chanced / adjust" a bit of yourself to become a great poker player?

There is a strong connection between poker and personality. I once read in a book that players who stack their chips like in a messy way are more agressive and lose while players who stack chips in a very organized way are more conservative players. So you can get a lot of tells by this little details of players mannerisms.
So the answer to your question is yes, in poker you need to constantly adjust to your opponents styles and also your own style cant always be the same.

I think personality does flow through to playing style, but i think you can adjust your playing style without changing your personality

Of course there is connection because your personality reveals your style of play at poker.

The smart ones would adjust and change style though.

sure there is a connection, but for me it is not a matter of adjust yourself but to know yourself and don´t show it / control yourself

Agree with this! I may be bubbling over on the inside with emotions but you would never see it! Changing gears at all times!

Thank you for the reply!

I was not really taking about changing your personality, but maybe to behave different when you are playing!

Gracias!

I am convinced that a great poker player is the one who has the abillity to adjust different styles at any particular moment, even during the same tournament, which is a quite a thing!

I don't believe you must change yourself, but as well as you spend time playing, poker might change you. Every sport makes it, I do believe poker makes you better at business, for example.

You could definitely win without bluffing but bluffing could add or take away from your win rate depending how good you are. As for personality yea it could indicate a playing style

Most definitely in live play personality comes into play. Now on the other hand in online play just throw that right out the window to many factors to consider other than personality is involved in the game people call poker. Not enough time to elaborate on that perhaps at a later date!

Maybe in general, however I know a lot of reserved personalities who have a loose wild playing style and a lot of really outgoing people who have a conservative playing style. I think a persons reasoning ability and experience are big factors in playing style.

Poker it's a game....everyone know the rools, but the difference between us is the personality, because our actions = our feelings....agressivity means power or tilting, tight means good game or fear, loose aggresive means fish or boring times...loose tight means no wish or just thinking on other sides ...
Let's imagine that all of us live in a virtual life that everyone play poker...all of us there are different only being the expressions of our feelings.
I've drinking a beer, hope i'm not "going too far" from the subject :D lol

I do thing that there is something phisical that is involved when you play poker, something that happens in your body and makes you react in different moments. Thius reactions are very difficult to control in the important moments of the game either you win or lose.

In that sense, to be a good poker player is better to be a robot and shut up the emotions!
