Sometimes I move my responsibilities so that I can play the tournament
I know it's wrong but ....
Do you do it too?
And what are you doing on this issue?

Yes, sometimes I endure my plans to play poker. But only those plans that I can follow later. Sometimes I lose good tournaments that I really wanted to play, because of their deeds that can not be transferred. On this issue, I do not have anything to do with my free work schedule. So I'm happy with everything.

I plan my tournaments earlier and I rarely have to change my plans and commitments.

If you are not playing poker as a living i would advice you to do your obligations first so you can fully concentrate when playing and dont have to worry about anything else.

I am not still in that stadium, i would rather go with friends on bear and that pass the tournament. Use brain, think. Poker is and will be always there, and even after our life. We should spend more time with people around us. Enjoy real good life. Poker is and always will be my 3rd or 4th thing on TO DO list. I don't want to say i don't love to play poker. i love! but i just set it by priority. Which i'm certain that is right thing to do. Okey, maybe sometimes its really big tournamnet that you maybe satteling or whatever.. so you can do that. but don't let it be a habit.

Good luck

poker is just entertainment and therefore I will not put off my business or plans for the next MTT! tomorrow there will be a similar tournament and you can and do not fulfill your plans if you postpone for tomorrow

If you have some poker event that you like its not a problem but if you do this more than once a day thats bad

Frankly, the stakes that I play are not sufficient to disrupt my plans. There may be the exception that proves the rule, but in general I feel I have realistic view of where poker fits into my life. It is entertainment for me.

I can move my plans and responsibilities to play poker. But I plan to play in tournaments in advance. If unforeseen circumstances arise during the tournament, I try to solve them within a 5-minute break.

I'm living in the land of semi-retired, so it is really not a problem 99% of the time.

I have played in tournaments where I have had to stop part way through to go somewhere or do something for my family. Poker is not my life and there is always another day to play. After all it is just a game.

Entertainment

I play poker for entertainment - live home games, brick and mortar casinos, and online. As a retiree I have a lot of free time, especially after golf season ends - meaning from late fall to early spring. Also, I have not done well golfing at night, so I play a lot of poker in the evening.

If I had my way, I would schedule my life around my poker games. BUT, I am married and my wife is our social convener. She generally knows to respect my Wednesday night home game, but has sometimes sabotaged that. Also, she loves casinos, so I can easily convince her to head to a casino when I feel the need for some variety.

Online, I play cash games, play money games (with Americans), and tournaments, whenever I have the time.

Depends on the type of poker currently:

For my current "grind challenge (link to thread in sig)" I try to get a couple hundred hands or least 1-2 hours in on it daily. If I have school/work related responsibilities I'll make sure to carve out time in evening or even early AM if possible sometimes to play. If I have evening plans I'll assess squeezing some in after them or before them (unless those plans include drinking then I'll try to get it in before).

MTTs (online for now): I used to play many more, but now I carve out some time as follows: My schedule is flexible some weeks (i.e. some Wednesdays I have no obligations so I'll play MTTs that Tuesday night and maybe Wednesday day) and also if I don't plan on playing at casino on a Fri or Sat and have no plans I'll play some MTTs if feeling it. Also carve out Sundays if no plans for early afternoon start times occasionally.

Live play: If no plans I'll try to commit to least one weekend night of live play and currently over next few months will try to get some Tues or Wed afternoon/evening play in on those days sometimes since my schedule changes sometimes. I was playing a lot on Sundays into Mondays live before schedule changes but found it was probably best to stick to Fri and Sat games.

Overall my current scheduling is to ensure some play on my grind challenge daily, MTTs 1-2x a week depending on schedule, and live casino play 1/2 least one weekend night a week if possible and maybe a random weekday when flexible. And obviously depends on if I'm up for playing esp for MTTs and Live as both are big time commitments for a given session. But right now my grind challenge is my priority poker wise and is already becoming a huge passion and motivator to play my best game and really work on reaching such a great challenge goal.

I never skip prior obligations for poker. I'll make an exception if I win a ticket to a major of course but if I find myself up too late playing, I'll still stick to my next day obligations 99% of the time.

Sometimes I move my responsibilities so that I can play. As long as I do them I think is ok. And what I'm doing on this issue is turning my computer off.

My opinion is that Poker needs self control, and clear mind.. I plan first and then if is good on all aspects plan I proceed.. if u put something aside better be something that ll not affect ur game mind.. ofc we all sometimes over give ourselfs to our passion ! Have fun playing!

everything must have a balance between poker and your personal life and your obligations, how to work or what you play, for me poker is my passion and I play daily, but the time must be shared by yourself and not affect your daily life. because your family is your daughter and they also deserve affection and attention, and more on those festive dates where the family meets but if there is time to get away and play a little tournament without affecting your daily life, but nowadays there are applications per cell that you can play and compile at the same time jejej greetings

When I'm going to play an excellent tournament then I postpone plans only when the tournament is played once a month such as given from the school of poker - BIG BANG - or JP tournaments that fall on the luck card if the tournaments are on schedule
every day you can play them later,
and do your work!
