I have been playing online poker for 12yrs and have decided to do this full time now. I have pretty much seen it all, cope with bad beats and tilt and adjust accordingly when needed.

In the first 3 weeks, I’ve made $1200-$2000 (1/2, 2/5) a week. I try and aim for $300-$500 day. When I meet these daily numbers, I stop for the day.

I’m writing this to see what everyone’s advice or thoughts are for this experience in my life. Of course with this game, you learn something new every day playing and talking to others. I would love to hear when more players thought or are concerned with in my situation.

Thanks!

And yet this is your first post.

I smell something fishy, "and I'm not talking about the contents of Baldrick's apple crumble."

I would advise you to collect a solid "airbag" and only then completely switch to poker! your success is good but from the failure of serium no one is immune! good luck with the game

Good luck with that sir, pace yourself instead of weekly and daily, shoot for monthly and build a rhythm. Find the right tournaments!!

Welcome, there are a lot of knowledgable poker players on the site willing to share information.

If you are playing for a living, why would you limit your earning potential to $500 per day? If the game is good, you should continue to play. I would recommend you base the reason for ending the session on other factors that impact your earning capabilities.

You should really play a longer session if the tables are hot. It's not often that you can find an easy table.

You have chosen a new career path after 12 years of "practice". Good for you. It seems that you realize your earnings potential.

A few questions:
1. Have you built up a bankroll that will allow you to manage the variance the game throws at you - and still be able to pay your bills?
2. How old are you? Is this a long career path, or something new to do at the end of your other career(s)?
3. Do you have family that depends on your income? A family with children needs a steady income.
4. What country do you live in? $300-$500 per day is an amazing income in some countries, a decent income in others, and low income in others.
5. Do you have a plan for your retirement fund? Not that you ever have to stop playing poker, but someday you may not want to keep grinding every day.

I hope you have thought through all these questions and made this career change knowing your future depends on a solid game plan.

I once tried to start making money in poker, but it all ended up because I lost everything, started to tilt and abandoned this idea. Later, I again returned to this idea, but did not become the one who earns on this

Congrats. You chose to be your own boss. I just made this transition myself a few months ago. There's going to be good days and bad days, but just remember that you have something more precious than even money and that's time. You can make a another dollar, but not another minute. Plus no one can tell you what to do, and you don't have to request time off to be in your family's life.

Congratulations, in my case, I'm about to face something similar. Although I still need to consolidate my results and I would like to raise my bank without needing to deposit as a sample to myself that I can be even more a winner. Of course, I have enough money saved as to bank several months without a fixed entry. I think this is fundamental, in any case to be able to have a calm mind while you play

I have limited myself based on my means of living and what I was making at my job.
