I was just wondering if anyone keeps a logbook or journal after playing live or internet poker. If you do what do you write in it? Do you have headings like:

money lost/won, bad beats, best play, etc....you get my point.

Or you just keep track of wins/losses of $$$. Please inform what you include in your journal because I would like to start one up. Thank you

I've never thought about that. That sounds like a darn great idea. Thanks for the insight.

We were actually going to implement such a feature here on cardschat, we weren't sure if it would get used or not though.

It sounds a great idea! I've just tried the link above and it seems like its up for sale, and I'd have to win a hell of a lot of freerolls to buy it!

Hi - I started my own personal poker blog on MSN - its free. I don't keep accurate records on it but rant and rave and pat myself on the back when necessary. I also am keeping track of my wins and near wins (125th place in 4000 - call that a near win, not a loss) in a hardcopy journal.

I think Williams likes jotting down every hand at a tourney and reviewing it afterwards when it was over to see how to improve. Sounds like a good idea to me, maybe too much work, but I should give it a try - at least in online play. All education helps.

Poker Log

I use one right now in a looseleaf notebook and it is a pain. I include things like:

Date, Game (ie.. Holdem, Omaha, etc), Stakes, Ring game or Tourney, time it took to play tourney, place I came in, Money Won (if any HAHAHA). I have a blank space on the end that lets me put in the name of player and if they were aggressive or other notes. Hope this was helpful!

NICK: I would definately use that feature as I think keeping it on looseleaf is a pain.

I would love to start a journal. I do have one question concerning live games though. Can you keep a journal at the table and make entries during live play? Have a fabulous day!!

I keep a daily log of on-line poker play:

Date, Cost of buy in, # of players, placement, $ earned/lost at game, running win/loss $ amount. I also keep a space to notate things like, "bad beat", screwed on river, played stupid (and how), maybe noting superior plays, or something I learned from the game.

I also keep a separate log for brick and mortar games.
Same info.

i have a little looseleaf notebook. i prefer that to an online log, since you can carry the little paper notes in your pocket, but my laptop PC doesnt fit in there. ;)
ive kept book since april (started playing -online- in december last year)...
