Does anybody else use poker lingo in regular life? With your non-poker friends? I feel myself self-consciously saying "run bad" and other stuff like that as well. Anybody else?

I use this so much,
I can relate almost all my poker experience in work.

I tell my team that variance is part of sales and as long as your making the correct decisions and implying the right call structure long term it will be profitable,

I teach them to

- exploit weaknesses
- probe potential customers for information
- not to worry about results when they are doing all the right things

but mainly variance and statistics lol.

poker is a life game, people have the same traits and tendancies in every day life just like they do in poker,

there for you can make similiar guides when working on math and statistical outcomes when implying an efficient and solid structure designed to exploit people for financial gains

lol

I have succesfully implemented in my network of friends "running bad today" as a common saying.

Life is a lot like poker and can be treated as such. That's why I believe all poker terms can be implemented in life.

Haha same. Also, "tilt" or "being tilted" has been said enough so that everyone knows what I'm talking about.:D

I mentioned to some guys that work with me something was +EV and they just kinda stared off into space, mesmerized by what that concept may be and any implications it may have on them. I haven't really tried it again.

Poker is surely helpful in everyday life. I learned to lie better, I could be an actor easily.

I'm pretty sure I've used "snap" on a couple of occasions. Like when someone says they "snap" called. I've just used it on non poker related stuff.

A load here I have quoted from a similar thread, about signs that you play too much poker.

When at the airport having just come off the plane and passing into Arrivals you see hundreds of people standing behind the rail waiting to meet friends/relatives and all you can think is "lol railtards"

2 years ago I needed new glasses and to buy them they give you a free eye test for the prescription of the lens.

Doctor says ' Do you read or use a computer a lot?'
me 'I read and I also use the computer a lot'
him 'word processing and surfing, or additional strain on the eyes'
me 'Well I play a little online poker sometimes'
him 'ok, well lets see how your eyes are'

He then switches off the lights and I do the 'please read the lines test. He says 'read the 2nd line please'
The 2nd line has a 3 K J 2. So I obviously say, 'Three, King, Jack, Deuce' I had no idea what I said was wrong until he looked at me and said 'A little poker?' Then I clued in.

when deciding where to take a girl on a date u thinking in terms of ROI

group of us went to a club last night and as we walked up to the doorman i said "ay whats the buy in"..

Most food consumption is included as "expense" out of your daily Poker profits/losses.

spending half an hour making a sandwhich while trying to multi table at the same time.

When you think of loyalty reward cards for restaurants as "rakeback".

Whenever there's an adverse coincidence e.g. the traffic light going orange before you can make it through, you blame it on "***** variance"

So Im at a buffet and my friend is like taking a little bit of each serving onto his plate and I say "dude dont limp into every pot just raise big on the good ones"

When at grocery store checking out and cashier tells me total is $47.16 and i announce "raise" as i hand her a $100 bill.

When your taking a taxi somewhere and the driver tries to start convo with you, and all you can think about is that you wished there was an observer chat off button

Just found this one.

"My mum always used to worry about how much time I spent in my bedroom with my door shut. Since I have started playing online poker, this has been really good for widening my closing door range".

Just listen to the evening news casts. You will be very surprised at the number of poker terms used.

I don't really use poker lingo at all. I play poker a lot I just don't find the need to. Also I find it annoying when people around me over use it. I went to the casino where I live and I was playing a 1/2 game because that's all they had going. I kept hearing people say pot odds over and over again. It was annoying as sh*t. Its a 1/2 game half the people there don't even know how to calculate pot odds.

I mentioned to many fellas that work beside me some thing was +EV and so they simply sort of featured off into place, awestruck as to what that concept could be and then any implications it may don them. I have not genuinely used it once again.
