The past few years i have seen a poker explosion like no other. Not only is poker everywhere you look in your everyday life but its all over the tv and the big screen. Every movie i watch or telvision show someone is playing some form of poker and usually holdem. Im proud to be a poker player when i see these reffrences, but i wonder will the game get played out with all the extra exposer.

Certainly there is a saturation point with poker in the general society. But the game will never go away. It's funny how a lot of the references in movies or tv shows are so bad....most of the movies are terrible, etc.....but clearly our society has a fascination with the game.

And then the government decides, guess what, this game isn't safe for you to play. You can't regulate yourselves....(read: we can't figure out how to get a dime out of this so we're gonna do our best to end it). And then you see poker in the news and it's a hatchet job by 60 minutes telling the public over-and-over that online poker is illegal.

In no way did I begin typing this thinking I would end up angry and ranting.....

You mean nothing but poker last forever right? I mean, seriously speaking, poker is one of the best card game there are in popularity terms. And I dont know of a game where more money is made of (card game). What other card game is seen as much on TV? Poker has a bright future ahead of itself. And in today's fast food world, when people see others like durrr making millions for himself from nothing, they think they can emulate it in just as short time, and it just feeds the game.

How often have I said that to myself after a... "discussion"... with my teenage son?

Why have games got tougher since then?

Because a lot of bad players went broke because of better players (regs). This makes there are less fish. By the way popularity has been shrinking the last year for sure. But its still the biggest card game online.

The only thing that really bothers me about it is the shame of sitting through the movie "Lucky You" in the theater. I don't think I can ever recover from that cliched movie.

Though in poker's defense, I enjoyed the movie "The Grand" more than I should have.

I think that all the exposure that poker has had in the last couple of years has caused alot of enexperienced people to falsely believe that if so and so can come out of nowhere and win the WSOP then they can too. Then the tables are flooded with tons of inexperienced players trying to find the so called American dream thru poker. Plus on tv they see these amazeing hands that get sucked out and they think they can go all in and the same thing will happen to them. Is really unfair tot he hard core players that have paid there dues comeing up from a small bankroll and grinding it out.. those are the players that I respect.

Ya poker is growing and growing. Commercials are on tv all the time, there are many online sites poping up everyday. Its exponentially growing with every new player as well. I wonder how many people across the world have played the game at an online site by now.
