I didn't think there was anything below NL freeroll - there is, Limit Freeroll. Accidently clicked on one of these on pokerstars. Quite simple to explain - player A bets, player B calls, player C raises, player D calls, Player E calls, players A + B call. Flop dealt - player A bets player B calls player C raises etc - Turn dealt - players A bets, player B - you get my drift by now.

I was in front to the river on the 4 hands I played, but didn't win one. Problem was. if you had top pair (10's), one opponent would be chasing flush, 2 would be chasing straight, one would have under pair, one would have KQ, and one would be holding on to his Ace - there's only a handful of cards that wouldn't get you done!

Ended up just logging out after 4th one, still had half stack, but they are barely playalbe. I suppose every tournament has to have a winner though.

a lesson in futility there rob lol.don,t think i,ve seen a limit freerole anywhere but i don,t play on stars. It also sounds very much like the buy in events that i play on,its a bit mad until the blinds get to 100/150 then the play starts to get more like normal poker.

Yea i played one of these before. Holy crap, is unbelievable ! Its like a normal freeroll, lots of people trying to go all-in, but they cant because its a limit game, so they cap the betting all around.. Hilarious

Problem is there are so many people in each hand, invariably everyone has HUGE pot odds to continue pumping money in. I dont think there is any skill in these at all - a monkey could press a mouse button 10 times a minute and win if the cards fell!

One of the reasons I don't play much hold'em anymore is exactly this reason. Folks will play any 2 cards and hope to catch on the flop. With so many people in the hand, someone is bound to catch something which makes your big pocket pairs (or AK) totally useless...

Maniacs are bad enough in hold'em. Maniacs who can't go all-in and hang around for 1/2 hour, that is hell. I also have been trapped playing one of these games and I would call it the worse kind of slot machine poker. You put one quarter in to start it (preflop) and another quarter each time one of the wheel stops (postflop, turn and river) and just pray that you win something. It is actually worse, you know you are ahead post flop and watch yourself get stomped on the turn and river by idiots who chase ace and draws. You know your beat but might as well call and pray someone is bluffing (oh yeah, they are not that smart).

P.S. Just be thankful there were not rebuys for like a $1 or $2. What would that be? Hell Squared?

Well i've been trapped in two :(- 1st one i folded first 3 hands and looked at the lobby to see how many of the 900+ had bust out. I couldn't believe it when there were only 2! I then got AA 4th hand, and found out why when I tried to raise (n.b, how can you bust out after 3 hands in 10/20 with 1,500 playing limit? That takes some doing!). Capped betting, but they didn't hold up. Didn't play more than 10 hands either time before giving up. If I enter another by mistake, i'll just sit out 1st 30 mins or so until blinds go up to an appreciable level!
