Does anyone know where you can get sunglasses to use in live poker games?
All the ones in normal shops you can see peoples eyes through, and/or they are too dark to see properly yourself.

well if your not afraid to spend a little money, I would suggest getting some oakleys, either M frames or half jackets and get the polarized lenses.

I have a better idea, just don't stare at your opponent. Never understood the sunglasses thing. Makes me think of those doofs who dress in all spandex w/lettered shirts just to go riding on the bike trail. Some say that if your excited your eyes will dialate, but if your actually close enough to my eyes where you can notice that, you are either a hot chick that I am leering at, or way to close to my face and ready to get slapped. Just keep an eye on your opponents, and don't stare them in the face constantly, making it way to obvious.

Sure Oakleys are cool. But it's all in the lens, not the frames (i.e. half jackets). I got a pair of Oakley 5s, black Iridium. I was able to wear them after an eye exam and walk right out and even stare at the sun (they block out like 91 or 93% of the sun's rays). Get the gold iridium.

Other than that, I've got about 8 - 10 pairs of Revos - all mirrored, from green to blue to gold to stealth to red to orange. I won't sell you these, they are my weaknesses, fetishes. But all the Revos are typically the same light allowance, unlike Oakley.

Oh.... big diff between the old & new Revos. If you don't care about quality so much, you might find the new ones great. The vintage ones are the cat's meow, and you can find them on Ebay at a premium. Not sure, I haven't looked in awhile. I don't even wear glasses but very picky about my sunglasses. My collection is probably worth around 3 - 4k. :p

But as long as you go for the mirrored, they are good for poker. They may look blue or whatever on the outside, but they are always light gray or light brown from the inside looking out.

Whatever you do, make sure the sunglasses you buy to use at the table arnt mirrored glasses.

We had this situation at a 2/5 table in my local casino, the dealer claimed she could see the mirrored guys cards in his glasses whenever he looked at them.

I dunno, I was right across from him and I couldnt see them. Still to save the hassle remember to get normal ones.

LMAO! Thought about this for a minute, came up with 2 answers. A quick experiment with my own mirrored Revos proved them true.

1) The dealer is standing. You will never see the cards unless....

2) The mirrored sunglasses player is tilting his whole head downwards to look at the cards. Angle is everything. The degree of concavity (if that's a word, but you get the idea) in any lens will determine just how much is in the 'viewfinder'. Common concept in wide angle photography.

If you couldn't see his cards, the guy probably knows what he's doing. But if the dealer could even see them, he was tilting his head down more that he probably should or leaning too far back to view his cards. Ideally, you want to be looking at your cards not through your lenses, but from under them. I can even accomplish this with my Oakley 5s, which are sort of wraps.

The only glasses I wear at the table are the prescription ones that I wear everyday!! I also have a really nice pair of prescription Nike sunglasses that have some insane dark green polarized lenses. Unfortunately they are very reflective, and I know that people can clearly tell If what suit and if the cards I'm holding are broadways, too many lost Pinochle hands due to those very reflective sunglasses...

Because poker glasses can hide a tell..

Had to fix that....there are many tells...and you should work on having none. With or without glasses.

I was watching a show the other day, and a guy did something that I do...and that's cover up his mouth....DN made all sorts of fun of the guy....

The most reliable tell I had was against someone who wore big sunglasses. He had this one semibluff move he liked to pull and when he did he'd raise his eyebrows and watch the other guy in the pot. When he did this his forehead would wrinkle.

Unfortunately I made the mistake of telling a dealer about this, the next time I saw the guy he had an oversized hat that came down all the way to the top of his glasses.

I often wear sunglasses when I first sit at a table not because I'm worried about my own tells but because I like to watch other players really closely and sometimes focus on specific things like their hands, neck, or chest to watch their breathing. I'd rather people not know what I'm watching.

When I'm actually in a hand I don't care so much if they see my eyes. I kind of get a kick out of staring people down who wait to see my reaction to the flop before acting. Not gonna happen!

Much better than the sunglasses imo. I don't where sunglasses when I play live tourneys. I don't really see the point but get the helmet if what you're looking for is that.

Cheers.

I've got a pair of sinners that i bought while i was off snowboarding somewhere, they're awesome. I get really un-nerved when people are staring at me so i wear them mainly for that, i can make a bluff and stare someone down with sunnys on but not without lol, I could never win the staring game at school where u try not to laugh first :D

But also, like the above poster, i use them more for looking at other people on the sly, much easier to spot tells when people don't know theyre being stared at lol
