For me the game needs luck to win big pots of money, but there are methods and techniques that bring you to win, that I think that 's the big difference

If it was all luck, i doubt anyone would play poker, every1 would be like "ahhhhh f that bingo man" and stayed with chess :D but its not all luck, sure bad beats and suckout do happen, and we say ahhhh bad luck, bt im sure there was a lot u could have done not to put your self in that spot, coz when u go back and review the hand, ull find couple of things u could have done different and end up with a different result, and thats how u improve and get better, and thats where the skill comes in play, when u have enough tricks up your sleeve to confuse even the veterans of the game :D

Luck is always important and not just in poker, but definitely what makes a player is great is not your luck, what makes a great player is his abilities, my opinion is that 90% is skills and 10 % luck

Sometimes luck plays in our favor. But, a good player not only expect luck. Knows the basic odds and is able to calculate them as they change during the game. The skill is more important in poker

¿ how far poker is luck ?

It is an issue that many friends have discussed , because they always win ?

I know great poker players ( nonprofessional ) who always win and when you look you realize that most of the time won before River, the last card is taught .

excuse the bad English , greetings from Uruguay :) :) :)

Poker not have this luck factor, but the learning factor!
many players say that always the last ( RIVER) that kills the play and end up losing.
well I think it was not for this reason, already imagined all your move was wrong?
often we get into a game knowing that this almost 100% defeated
profitable players can see these situations in advance, and this logic that poker takes money from some and passes to other more prepared.

Poker is not always a game of skill

Some people are just plain lucky. I have played many times when a poor player wins again and again .. and yes, going all in with 4 / 5 offsuit preflop should not be considered a sign of skill.

Good poker is a game of skill.

Of course, poker is a game of skill. But luck is also a big factor in the game. Anyway in the long run without skill you can't benefit a lot by playing poker simply relying on your luck.

so there is luck, but I think that skills that are important in the long term, many players have proven themselves in this game, the more you play the more important decisions you have to make, but to set an example with Daniel Negreanu, he has wins in huge tournament, I do not believe that this is just luck and not only he, as I and other players to get back on their luck if you have AA and your opponent's 44 and the flop is 445, certainly had no luck with your AA but here we can go further back and see his actions before the flop, then maybe there is a bad play by AA, but if you did everything right, just bad luck, but when it's in the long run, I think that will often beat the player who has the skills !!!

Check out facebook ... loose cannon folds pocket aces pre-flop ... Laak hits quad sixes on the flop .. proof, poker can sometimes be total luck because it was definitely not skill that layed down the aces

For me poker is a game of opportunities or chances . If you have a good hand , explore the maximum , try to raise the maximum number of chips. To bluff will depend a lot on your table position in relation to the dealer .

Yes and No

Well first I'd like to say poker is definitely luck based, and no matter how good you play there is always hands that should win statistically but then because of luck you still lose...

However skill is absolutely still involved as poker requires YOU to decide which hands to play, and this alone can be the difference maker...knowing when to hold'em...or when to fold'em.
