I’ve watched a lot of poker streamers/ vlogs on YouTube and it doesn’t really seem like they ever make a profit, however they are supposedly making livings off poker? People like Andrew neeme and brad Owen. Also they play meet up games with other poker pros? For what reason, why wouldn’t you play vs fish if you wanted to make profit. They seem more focused on their channels on YouTube than actually making livings off poker. Seems as if their real income is coming off YouTube...

I would not call such thing a fraud. Youtube pay to authors attracting large number of viewers and this is completely legitimate business. Look for example games like WOW - there is a whole industry of people having channels in youtube and twitch and they get high interest and money. I also prefer to play the game but if there is interest in your channel it is completely ok to get money from that. :)

Andrew Neeme and Brad Owen, also have sponsors and people who donate money to them on the web, and they also make profits from you tube

i believe some of them do as they post final table winnings, like gods big toe, he seems to be hitting in the money almost every tourney he plays, Although i have watched quite a few that have a lot of questionable plays, and can easily be not showing us there down swings as i don't think they play that much better than me, but yet say there killing it, and i most definitely am not killing it

It's just business ... People make money ...
People are looking for sponsors, channels and other opportunities to raise money ...
The same is video lessons on psychology, training, gymnastics, etc ...)))

So it’s fruadulent... they are convincing people that poker is highly profitable even when they aren’t necessary making their real profits off only poker.

I think calling Andrew and Brad a "fraud" is pretty outrageous. These are two guys who are simply making videos about their personal experience playing live poker in Las Vegas and California and then putting it on the internet.

They both put incredible amounts of work into their videos, especially in post-production. Their videos are also highly educational and entertaining and that is why they are so wildly popular.

And believe me, as somebody who does Youtube himself, I know for a fact that neither of them are getting rich off this. Far from it. I think they are both a credit to the poker community and I would recommend their Youtube channels to anyone.

I wrote a huge article last year about poker vloggers by the way if anyone wants to know more. I did hours and hours of research on these two guys and many others. I don't know any of them personally.

The article: https://www.pokertube.com/article/t...-why-they-have-taken-the-poker-world-by-storm

of course they will use their image to make more profit, poker will continue to give them their profits but at times where things in poker are not going well, why not use other means to make money, if I were famous, I would do the same, and do not forget that they do bankroll management very well ..

If people have the opportunity to make a profit through YouTube's channel, advertising, or certain promotions, then this is an additional income. And as for me, this is absolutely the right decision.

Poker isn't really that mainstream. It has a large cult following but it's not on a lot of people's radar. The peak has come and gone. These tubers and vloggers have s small and committed audience. I love poker but I don't have time to chase every new "pro" that pops up. It's certainly a case of people mining the miners.

I never said they shouldn’t be using their channels to make extra money. What I’m expressing is making actual profit off poker seems unobtainable in today’s poker world. Making a living off poker is damn near impossible it seems, and these guys claim to do that. So it gives people like me hope that it’s possible when in reality they really are making livings off their other sources of income.

That’s harsh. Andrew is a good dude, FYI.

He works extremely hard to help grow the game of poker. I’ve played against him a few times and I guarantee you he’s a winning player. He’s a very solid player and a tough opponent.

I’m all for criticizing the scumbags in poker, but Neeme is one of the good guys.

I don't think they are profiting to much from online poker. but they sure can profit from you tube. however they are profiting I guess they figured ways are better doing it through you tube so be it. I really don't think they are making as much as they say they do with poker but it is a gamble. if you tube pays off that's good for them.

it may be that today they are more interested in their channels since their fame in poker puts them in a position where many people know them

In this case it is not a question of being a fraud, poker is a paid game and these players on youtube end up earning money and keeping the game itself with the money they earn on youtube.
It is easy to play poker when you have some sponsor or some source of extra income because it is easy to lose money and hard to make money.

I am reminded of the California Gold Rush. Most of the fortunes made in that Gold Rush were made by the folks who provided support, and food, tools and clothing for the folks who were out there digging gold.

Perhaps 'Opportunists' would be a better description.

they surely make profit from their channels. I never saw a supposed pro showing itself against players supposedly beginners

I think if you have the personality for it, a big draw to streaming is that you can support your poker habit through views/subscriptions. I have found many people who act like winning players while streaming, but just don't seem to be pulling in the ROI while live, but there are definitely streamers out there that are winning players.

Having people pay to watch you play poker seems like you're doing something right IMHO
