Fear is an unpleasant and undesirable feeling, which can be a major obstacle in the pursuit of success. Τhe attempt to defeat fear even if it is unsuccessful is enough to defeat the fear, however strange it sounds. From the beggining of our poker course, we try to get better and to reach a good game level. We are facing many fears in every game which are defeated progressively. I think poker is a very good exercise for trying to win and eliminate any kind of fear! What do you think?

I think this Thread ties in very well with Loss Aversion as a Cognitive Bias...

Some level of fear will always be there no matter what your equity or play style, there is no way to combat it, fear is a primal system that kicks in automatically, only thing to do is control how it effects your game when you're faced with it...

Good Luck...

I think its a major issue for a lot of players including myself for a long time. I still sometimes battle with it. I fear myself the most in that I will make a mistake and it will cost me. We see it in threads about folding Aces at inappropriate times just to avoid getting knocked out.

As you become more comfortable with the game and what to do in certain situations I believe this begins to fade and you become more confident of your actions rather than afraid.

I certainly wouldn't be playing poker if I was constantly afraid of how things were to turn out. That makes no sense.

I believe that in order to defeat the fear of the game, you need practice, the more you play, the less you are afraid to play. You need a solid bankroll and you need to be able to play the right poker and know that you will play plus for a long distance, you need to take into account all the risks and understand that even with a perfect game, something can go wrong. Dispersion is insidious. I believe that in order to overcome fear, you need to start playing the lowest limit and gradually as the bankroll grows and filling a certain distance to increase the playing limit and find your limit on which you can play comfortably and earn tangible money.

Hello.
When I play poker, I always try to analyze each situation and this analysis allows me to make logical decisions. Therefore, I do not feel fear, but I always feel excited.

Hi, I think that overcoming any type of fear is essential in the life of a human being but in my opinion there should be no such thing as fear in poker is just a game or if you want to see it in a more serious way it is just a work and like any game or work is a constant learning process where any error brings with it a learning which will allow you to improve, if you have any fear playing poker, from doing it wrong in a tournament to losing all your bankroll, believe me first It will happen and second it will help you to improve your game. so I think the only thing that would make me feel afraid in poker would be to end a game session on any day and not learn anything

fear

I think you're right, fear is good when you control and bad when it overpowers you

Interesting

I've been playing poker for a few months now, there are often times when I feel a little fear creep in. I assume at this point in my learning it's a lot about being in unknown situations of contestation against players that I assume have more tools at their disposal.

One the other hand, I also see fear as being valuable in decision making, provided that it doesn't crossover into the region of irrationality.

Fear is a great motivator also. Fear of going broke, fear of losing your bankroll, whatever the case, it can really jump start your system into playing better.

Fear in poker negatively affects the game. Play quality poker and not be afraid to lose if played correctly.

I think we will always have to deal with our ghosts, but I suppose that the will we put in it is the key to facing our fears.
But returning to poker, it seems to me that the fact that there are more and more tools at our disposal (thanks to the internet), makes us better able to understand different situations that may arise at a table, and therefore our nerves reduced .
The experiences also serve a lot when making decisions, either to play our hand in a certain way with certain players, or to better analyze our rivals, taking as a reference the way they have played in similar situations.
Greetings.

I think the fear in the game occurs in those who play for big money.Lose or not?And those who play on the miser do not worry about the loss.In any case, the game of poker is a game of nerves. There are many emotions here.I agree that these emotions are somehow connected with a sense of fear.

freerolls are needed in order not to spend money, but to learn how to play well using theory to master the practice and overcome your fear. And when you master the theory of the game and when you take prizes in freerolls, you can go to play microlimits and not be afraid.

I think the fear is part of the draw of the game for some people. It's a rush.. I wonder if poker players are thrill seekers in general? I know I am.. rollercoasters, sky diving.. bring it!
They say scared money is easy money but there is a difference between scared money and careful money.

more than fear I would say that pure adrenaline is what it feels like to play poker, especially if the bets are very high!

I have no particular fear as I play on bankroll and I'm not afraid to lose. At the beginning of the tournament there is excitement, but with time it passes when you start to feel the game and join it with your head. I used to have such a drawback when I was in high stakes and because of fear and too careful playing, I was not satisfied with getting to the prizes. play on your bankroll and feel comfortable in the game and you will not have problems with fear. good luck to you.

If i'd have that kind of (stupid) fear i'd keep myself miles away from gambling. Luckily i don't have no fear whatsoever ahead of poker-casino-betting

I have no problems with fear, except for unpleasant situations that occur in the game.

I myself believe fear is an obstacle which can be thrown aside in poker as what really can hurt you physically hurt you . If you are a person who is afraid of losing money this surely isnt the game for you

fear in playing is normal. Maybe by playing patiently and disciplined in reducing that feeling. Life is full of risks.

The early days of online poker were filled with scared money. It was much easier to push someone off a pot. .... I miss those days lol.
