Poker is harmful in many ways. The most harm it does is the effects it has on a person's body. we get fat, we eat unhealthy and don't burn off carbs. Next is the loss of our hard earned money we should be using to pay bills and provide for ourselves aswell as our families! People lose their health, cars, homes, family, and friends.

Playing with 1. only what you can afford to lose and 2. playing within proper bankroll management is critical is you plan on playing poker long term and winning. It is even more critical in tournaments as even the best players lose 90% of the time and win 10% of the time. 100+ buy in's for tournaments and 30 minimum for cash games is a good start.

In the beginning when i didnt know about bankroll management and chasing losses i lost a string of $100 to $200 deposits chasing my loss playing $3 to $6 limit poker. This was on full tilt poker in the early days when the site hadnt still been declared a ponzi scheme. Ive learnt from the experience and have been fine overall over the years. Lessons learnt: dont chase losses, dont play bigger stakes to earn back what has been lost. Ive made profits in live poker so overall its fine.

I never play for money that is needed for something else like paying bills or buying something. Play it wisely and only for the money that you can allocate from the budget without problems ...

it can be harmful and if u got gambling problems u can tamper with the settings to block out certain things like spin and go's hu and table limits, also poker doesnt go good if you have a family, maybe playing rereational and weekends is best way to go

Yes, I admit that when started playing had financial problems, but it is in the past)))

It has become my decision to not put any funds towards playing and to build up a bankroll from practice, patience and proper bankroll management. I will not play any game outside my set limits, this way I have to earn my way up to the harder games. I find a lot of enjoyment playing this way, then to start throwing money at bigger games with the hopes for a lucky session. While maybe you do get lucky, there is also high chance of ruin. I have the rest of my life to build a bankroll, start off small and in time, with proper play and patience it will be big.

its only a gem, its very rare to make real money with it of you need it, you can play only with money you have to spend in personal things.

If you spend too much time playing poker harming your normal life (work, relationships and so on) or if you spend money which you can't afford to loose of course poker will harm you. Good bankroll management is crucial to avoid the financial issues and good balance between poker and other hobbies (or professions if you play for living) will save you from investing too much time.

The only big winners, are the professionals and the casinos.
Use the game for amusement but I suggest trying to make big money from poker is futile for most people.
This is the only game I'm ahead of money wise. It is only a few thousand, and I play for fun not to get rich.

I think that if you follow certain rules, then there will be no problems. For example, do not play for money intended to buy something in the real world, do not sit all day at the computer, play sports, spend time with your family, ...

This is the ugly part of poker( actually not only of poker....is valid for all real money games) that makes you spend the money destined to others things which are more important.I think all poker players did sometimes in life at least once this mistake so don't worry .... you aren't the only one who passed through moments like this just try to avoid to repeat this mistake.
